Doing my homework before adopting a dog. This is a great 'wet your whistle' kind of book but does not offer too much insight into specific breeds. Very good tips on how to manage once you first adopt.

Kate solves a major mystery involving Old Sam and his relationships to various members of the community and her own family. She has several near death experiences. Mutt does her part, too. Jim andKate become ever closer. I do agree with Kate. She is getting too old for all these near misses. I see future novels as being less physical on her. Really enjoy her adventures.

This is Olivia and Zane's story: the Navy SEAL and the kidnapped surgeon. She has been taken by the terror group DMH to provide illegal organ transplantations in Africa. Zane is on a personal mission to save her ever since the conclusion of the previous book in the series. Their love story is sweet and passionate without a huge amount of conflict. They have many life experiences in common. There are two other love stories here as well which I found more interesting in some ways. Stephanie has become good at this even if it makes her books a little crowded with info. She's like Suzanne Brockmann in this regard, if a little less effective. But all in all I think Stephanie Tyler is getting stronger and stronger. My fav book of hers still is the first in the Hard to Hold Trilogy though.

Meredith Baxter's easy-reading autobiography was so reminiscent of so many things in my life that I devoured it. It's always nice to find out that someone who appears to have it all together is just as much of an insecure marshmallow as you are. There are no extremes here, but disappointing information about David Birney, who seemed quite likeable during the Bridget Loves Bernie season, but was really a narcissistic, mysogynistic, rageaholic with flashes of physical violence. So much for America's perfect couple. Nice backstage stuff and good to learn that the most of the good guys we know from television really are good guys. I really enjoyed this book, for all sorts of reasons.

I read this my senior year of high school and then reread it my freshman year of college for my English class. It's an important read. I didn't completely connect with Holden Caufield, but the idea of authenticity and integrity resonated with me.
