A rich history of occidental myths, opened my mind to what a civilization can concoct to explain the mysteries around us.

This book was non-stop drama right from the very start. I stayed up till 3 am to finish it.

This book should be retitled. " A Guide On How To Induce Brain Damage and Maim/Kill Yourself For Dummies". Pretty worthless book overall. Diagrams look like they were drawn by an elementary school kid, with poor drawing skills. It also contains many, MANY nuggets of "wisdom", such as the fact that giving someone an "ear clap" hard enough will not only cause their ears to bleed, but will also instantly KILL them, due to air pressure causing bleeding of the brain. Really? Let me guess. Next your going to tell me that the old "hit a person in the nose hard enough and it will drive the cartilage into their brains and kill them" thing is true. Wait. That is what you are telling me next? oh. Historically worth keeping I suppose, other than that this book is rubbish.

I chose to read this book because I would love to learn how to not only communicate, but to really connect with people on a deeper level. I was hoping to find some new skills in this book. John C. Maxwell used social media to enhance this book. He would post a chapter at a time on a blog and advertise through Twitter, asking for feedback. The faces of the people who did give feedback or suggestions have been included on the cover of the book. Read more here... http://tinyurl.com/65qlvnk

How long can you, or would you, wait for love? That is the question explored in Marquez's exquisite novel. I admit that I saw the movie (where Florentino was masterfully played by Javier Bardem) before reading the book, but I do not think it matters so much. It is less the storyline than Marquez's actual writing that makes me feverish. I almost become a Romantic while reading the book. Marquez makes no excuses for love. He writes about love as it is in its purest form - an everlasting element that survives war and cholera, and most of all, time.

Definitely the most gruesome of all three books. It also happens to be the best of the trilogy too. The first thing you learn from this book is that the characters have the worst luck in the world. If lots of animals dying makes you queasy then this isn't a book for you. Jakes' writing is very graphic and detailed, but his exposes are always very accurate for the time period he writes about. He is the best historical fiction writer.

This was an awesome book! I don't know that everyone would understand or could relate to it, however I would definitely recommend reading it. At the end of the book, I actually clapped. This book is about three very different African-American women living in a time when African-Americans were struglling to be accepted for who they were. The commonality that these women share is that they are all very fair-skinned. Because of this they can "pass" if they choose to. "Passing" was a term used to describe a fair-skinned African American who would use their appearance to pass as a Caucasian in society. However, not everyone thought that this was acceptable and their were many repercussions if the person "passing" was discovered. I loved this book.

A lot of reviews of Babe in Boyland compares it to the Amanda Byrnes movie She's The Man and I seriously didn't think of that until after I finished reading the book and browsed through the Goodreads reviews. That doesn't mean I found it original, it's just that I was comparing it to something else - Japanese manga gender-bender stories. And I kept thinking the story sounds terribly unconvincing in its context. A light, fun read but nothing you've never seen, read or heard before.

Despite the darkness and somewhat graffic parts of this book, i really enjoyed the way this author tied it all together and have been anxious to get into the next book. I honestly think this is the first book that i've thought about NOT finishing simply because of the nature of the topics that were somewhat shocking to read thru. But i was able to get thru it and was pleasantly surprised by the outcome.
