I'm putting this on my YA shelf, but the perfect reader would actually be a fourth-grader. I enjoyed the creativity of imagining a prequel to Peter Pan, but was surprised that the first two thirds of the book weren't more gripping. It was interesting, and moved along, but I was definitely able to put it down and walk away for a day or two. Perhaps I'm just too old for it, or maybe I've been spoiled by how unputdownable I've found the Harry Potter books to be. Good, definitely recommendable to young readers, but I don't think I'll go on to the rest of the series. Might read J.M. Barrie's original story, though.

basically it's a bunch of his stand ups bits in a book. Some stuff is funnier when written instead of spoken, but other things work better in their original form. You can basically get the same experience of this book by watching 2 of Carlin's stand up specials. Now don't get me wrong, this isn't a bad book. It's perfect Carlin...it's just not anything...original.

I love me some books with a magical twist to them. And Little Black Dress by Susan McBride delivers just that in her latest, and spectacular, novel. Even though I appreciate a good paranormal twist in books, sometimes they can be hard to achieve. But McBride manages to pull it off, all while delivering an emotional story that had me cheering and crying at the end. The main character is Antonia Ashton, a workaholic who is forced to move home to Blue Hills after her mother, Evie, suffers a stroke. While going through her childhood home, Antonia stumbles upon secret after secret. Much of the hidden past has to do with her aunt Anna, who mysteriously vanished fifty years earlier the night before her wedding. Through the help of one little black dress, the three women learn lessons about family, love, and even magic. I just adored this book. I didn’t want to put it down, I wanted it to keep going after I finished; just an all around great read. All three characters are complex and engaging, and I was invested immediately in their stories. The book changes from past to present, and kept giving readers a little taste of what happened between Evie and Anna and why Anna ran away and how that linked to Antonia in the present. I think chick lit readers would have a great time reading this book, and it sure makes you want your own magical LBD! This makes it on my Favorites List for 2011. Get your copy!

The Harry Potter novels range from being okay but not great to satisfying and addictive page-turners. This one definitely falls under the latter category. It's easily one of the best of the series, right up there with the Deathly Hallows (I'm not sure which one I like better). It features one of the best (and darkest) stories of the series, and it even features a shocking and really nasty twist towards the end (although I'm sure everyone knows what that is by now, even if they haven't read the book). I'd recommend it, unless you haven't read the previous books in the series; the Harry Potter novels have an annoying habit of being largely inaccessible (in my opinion) to those who aren't caught up with the story so far.

Honestly, I think this is Card's best book. It is a sequel to Ender's Game, but the two books are vastly different, and really only have Ender in common. Both are wonderful, but this is written with a sort of patient experience that Ender's Game doesn't have.

Bu kitabı beğendim. Çok üstte olmadan farklı ve ilginçti. Ben tho hikayesinde iki adam için düşmedi ve ben neden normalde en az bir tane seçmekten emin değilim :) Bence çünkü ikisi de gerçekten kim olduklarını çok saklıyorlar ya da yazar bir çocuklarýn gerçekte kim olduđunu göstermemize yetecek kadar iyi bir iţ. Idk yanılmış olabilirim ama gelecek kitaplarda onlar hakkında daha fazla şey öğrenmeyi umuyorum.
