This review may also be found on A Thousand Little Pages. 3.5/5 Willow has always been psychic. Simply grasping someone’s hand will give her access to a person’s possible futures, which Willow views as branchings off a tree. When her classmate Beth unexpectedly asks for a reading, Willow is plunged into a world of deadly, human-consuming angels and slowly begins to understand the intricacies of cattle farming -- or human aura trafficking, whichever term you prefer. As the angels become aware of Willow’s existence and decide that they want her dead, Willow is whisked off on a daring escape plan with angel assassin Alex, and the two set off on a road-trip to save themselves and perhaps the entirety of humankind. It turns out to be a trip filled with deception and gun chases and auto theft; after all, these aren’t peaceful little fluffy-winged angels we’re talking about here. Angel Burn contains a set of very untraditional angels and two extremely cute main characters -- and here, I seriously stress the word cute. The evil angels’ background acted as a great hook, and the author knows exactly how to create enough suspense to prevent the reader from putting down the book. The alternating perspectives are slightly disjointed at times, but overall it succeeded in portraying the feelings of various characters. Willow is the only one honored with first person, and in my humble I’m-not-an-editor-but-it’s-ok opinion, the author would have been better off simply keeping her in third person like the rest of the characters. Kudos to Miss Weatherly for giving Alex and Willow time to get to know each other before proceeding to the lovey-dovey stage. However, once they got to that stage, the cheesiness began to overwhelm. Now, I am generally a proud enjoyer of cheesy romance novels; still, there were some scenes that morphed my aww, they’re so adorable into an ugh, guys, please stop before I start puking rainbows. All in all, this novel was a surprisingly great read. I am looking forward to the sequel, Angel Fire. Book Source: ARC from Candlewick Press via NetGalley

This is a great series and the perfect book for visual people like me. The author divides the book into categories and goes through the entire supermarket section by section. Both fresh foods and brand name packaged items are included. Some of the items on the "Not That" list may surprise you! Several yummy-sounding recipes are included in the back.

I have to admit, I was about half way through this book when I realized I'd read it before. Totally forgot when I picked it up at the library the second time. I can't quit figure out why, since the story is a clever and sinister reinterpretation of Wyatt Earps' influence in Tombstone. I think that Emma Bull's writing in this story is just so understated and skilled. The ending is gripping but anticlimatic because it's over too quickly as well. All in all, it was worth a second read.

I really enjoyed the main character. I liked the "word of the day" - I learned a few things!

I think I was too young to have read this book when I did, and probably missed half of its meaning. Somehow I still enjoyed it though. Definitely worth revisiting.

Role Playing Divine and her boo, Madison , have tied the knot! Calm down, it's not real! However, as she and Madison are basking in the bliss of their honeymoon, the past keeps drudging up plenty of drama. If that isn't enough, Divine learns that she's not the only one with nuptials on the mind as her mom shares the news that Kevin Nash has popped the question. Is Divine ready to share her mom again? Life in Temple, Georgia, may not be as fast, glamorous or loaded with the paparazzi as it was for her in California , but Divine is still making all the news. When people at school find out that she and Madison are married, soon all of the kids in Temple appear to be following suit. What lesson will Divine learn about the power that she possesses? As always little Miss. Hollywood has to learn how to handle life while balancing another heart break, accepting Kevin and Ava as step-parents and realizing that may be she is too young after all for a commitment. DIVINE MATCH-UP is educational as well as amusing and comes with a raving recommendation of course.

Marc and Gillian were a couple in crisis - though at first they did not seem to realize this. Marc was an assistant pastor and one of his duties was Christian counseling. Stacey, on of his parishioners, had been coming to counseling as she said she was trying to reconcile with her husband. Marc felt that she was developing a crush on him, so had a female staffer take over her counseling. Stacey continued to call him and send him e-mails, which Marc tried to ignore. Gillian had given birth to stillborn twins six months ago. She was still grieving, visiting their graves and writing them letters. Neither confided in the other the obstacles they were up against. On the day that Stacey's feelings got out of hand, Gillian finds a love letter that she had written to Marc, hinting at an affair. Before Gillian can confront him about it, Stacey shows up at their house and shoots Marc in the chest, accusing him of attempted rape as she runs from his home. Fortunately, he survives, but he and Gill are further apart than ever. Together, accompanied by their 16-year-old daughter Crystal, they take a sabbatical to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in hopes that the media circle will die down in their absence. Little do they know that they are moving to the same remote area as the Magician Murderer, a serial killer who has killed 4 girls in Cincinnati. Girls that all resemble their daughter Crystal. This book was hard for me to put down. You are instantly immersed in the murders and through them begin to know Detective Riley. A veteran cop and a Christian who is on the brink of retirement. But he can't seem to let go of this case. Between the loss of the babies, Marc's shooting and Stacey, Marc and Gillian have lost faith in each other and where is their faith in God? You cheer them on that they will somehow be able to see how the other is hurting and open up to the love they once had for each other and the love that God still has for them. There are a lot of twists in this book, but the way it came together in the end was very believable! As everyone begins to close in on the killer, I found myself urging them on - trying to tell them how close they were. I also loved the way it brought everything around to believing and trusting in God. I highly recommend this book!
