This book is a must-read. Sure, it's directed at teens, has lots of romance, and is about vampires, but I just got completely involved in the story. This is a fantastic series!

This is my first book by Kate Mosse and I'll definitely try another one. Once I started I couldn't stop. I really liked the historical context of the story and the writing was beautifully done.

** spoiler alert ** Wow. Again, Whitehead writes an amazingly intelligent, complex, and relevant novel and entertains the hell out of me during the process. Zombies! His seamless prose sheds light on a world going through a "Reboot," which is eerily similar to Reconstruction, save for there is no one to integrate back into society. Again, humanity picks itself up, dusts itself off, and tries to make things right again, only to find that trying to reconstruct the life before will never work. Things change. Things always change. Keep up, don't get stuck in the past. Move on. Build. I'm shaken after reading the last twenty pages because it's what every zombie apocalypse survivor fears: the barricades simply will not hold. Not forever, anyway. As Mark Spitz recounted all the events he'd gone through, from Last Night to last night, I felt a connection with him; I loved his character and also that of his teammates in Omega. He held back bonding with others for this nagging fear that he couldn't yet exhale, only to discover that he was right. Oh, what PASD (post-apocalyptic stress disorder) does to a person. I think I'll be suffering from PZOSD. The final scene, where he decides to jump in the water, was both liberating and tearful; I don't know if he'll make it. I certainly hope he does and I won't be giving up on him. This character was so real to me! This writer is brilliant! Why isn't this guy being handed prizes left and right? Undoubtedly, this man is literature's best kept secret. Do yourself a favor and discover this guy for yourself. As a zombie story, as a novel, as a work of literature, as a piece speaking to humanity, this is nothing short of stunning and a mature, complex allegory. Oh, how I loved this book.

Ethan is tired of the female shifters in his home town, chasing his tail. so he goes on vacation. He goes to a hotel in California looking for no strings fun. Instead he finds his mate. They spend the night together, but his fear of no longer being free has him confused. He leaves her and pretty much rejects her. She then leaves him. He then pretty much spend an entire novel trying to make it up to her. Great Novella. I liked that even though they are mated, it is not necessarily 'love at first sight'. What I liked about this story was that the true love between the pair was gradual. it wasn't all consuming the moment they were together. They worked on it and eventually they came together very happily. A great addition to my shifter stories...

Bit of a slow start, seems like a little too much teenage drama at first, but then the themes start coming into play and the story picks up fast after that. Pretty decent story over all, but not a big build up or climax, and I wasn't fully convinced at the end that the main character really had a good reason for choosing what she did. The writing was a bit amateur, especially at the beginning, but it seemed like she got in stride more toward the end.

An entertaining book using basic economic priciples and the power of incentives to better understand some of the quirks of every day life. Touching on some potentially difficut topics (linking abortion to crime, the effect of racial names on employment/discrimination, etc.), Leavitt's tounge-in-cheek style of writing gets you to think of everyday issues from a different viewpoint. A must read.

I wanted to adore this because god friends have. I liked it but didn't love it as much as I had hoped
