I’m not sure how to go about reviewing this book. I really enjoyed reading it, but there’s just something about it that makes me not know how to go about writing this. There are two parts to this story when you get right down to it. There’s the ghost mystery bit and the supernatural bit. The entire book slowly builds up to the ghost part and just when it climaxes there are still questions left unanswered until the very end – but when the last bits of the puzzle are made known, it’s just like that. There’s no real explanation other than ‘slam bam thank you ma’am – that’s all folks – the end’. It was a little weird. And as for the supernatural bit outside of the ghost part, well, it happened all of a sudden and then was the main focus taking over for the ghost part. I don’t know if that’s straight enough of an explanation, but it’s the best I could write it all down. Basically, it was a weird little book that I enjoyed reading even though it had me scratching my head (figuratively) while reading it – especially at the very end. Sylvie as a character was alright, but I feel that she, like the ending, was rushed. Maybe it’s just that everything seemed to happen at the end that she was swept along with it. And her love triangle was just a little awkward, especially at the end. I guess when it all comes down to it is that the ending overpowered the entire book and not necessarily in a good way. It was just weird. I would recommend that you read this book yourself if you’re able to since it’s one of those books that really needs to be read and the reader make their own conclusion. As a book, it was alright though with a rushed ending and a weird combination of story lines. I’m going to have to give it a 6/10. Oh, and I don’t get the title. Could someone explain it to me if they understand how it ties into the story. Please? But the cover is gorgeous.

Boy, he doesn't half get a load of fancy words in. Think I prefer his restaurant and TV reviews but there are good chapters to dip in and out of. I might however dip out having reached 'The Cotswolds' and start on something less likely to make me irritable.

I love Sherlock Holmes but it is a little too difficult for me to read. There were some parts that I didn't understand. Charles McCarthy was killed right after fighting with his son. Most people accursed the son but Sherlock Holmes wasn't convinced - he tried to find out some little facts which was leading him innocent.

I've considered Jim Elliot as a hero of the faith for as long as I can remember, but he falls seriously short in this book. Tell a girl you're in love with her and then leave her hanging while you head to the mission field? Please! If anything, I love the story because it helps me remember that God chooses to work through normal people in spite of their flaws. It also shows a serious and hard-fought lesson in patience.

u svim medijima se uz naslov ove knjige mogao vidjeti i 'podnaslov' - arabski sex i grad. ne vidim gdje su oni to našli sex u ovoj knjizi, budući da ga nema, a osim toga, knjiga nije isprazna kao serija/knjiga s kojom ju uspoređuju. sviđa mi se to što se iz knjige može vidjeti kako izgleda život žena iz saudijske arabije. zapravo sam taj narod zamišljala puno konzervativnijim nego što je prikazan ovdje (npr. nisam mislila da je internet toliko raširen kod njih, niti da žene imaju puno prilika za školovanje na fakultetima), tako da se kao jedan od razloga zašto pročitati knjigu može navesti - rušenje predrasuda o arabskom narodu. također, zanimljiv mi je prikaz ljubavnika: ne vide se, jedino komuniciraju preko mobitela i to u sitne noćne sate..i tako to traje godinama, a onda na kraju obitelj jednog od njih dogovori brak sa nekom trećom osobom i sve se tu završi..zapravo je to tužno

I was disappointed in this book. It doesn't begin to plumb the depths of language. I found the repeated parenthetical definitions of grammar basics annoying. The list of cliches to avoid was a cliche itself, and the commentary on each was useless. I'll stick with Strunk & White for real help with grammar and style--It's a true staple of the writer's reference shelf. If you want entertaining discussion on grammar, try Eats Shoots and Leaves instead.
