Rigtig fin opfølger til Coq Rouge, Hamilton flyttes denne gang til Tyskland hvor han skal infiltrere RAF og diverse under-terror-grupper, desværre har jeg ikke rigtigt styr på om den historisk er korrekt, da min viden om RAF er rimelig begrænset, men bogen virker trovædig og spændingen og agent-plottet er dygtigt strikket sammen. Samtidig med at være en spændingdroman, har Jan Guillou også nogle politiske og samfundsmæssige holdninger der her og der titter frem, det er ikke en ukritisk glorificering af Hamiltons verden, hvilket er forfriskende. Det er bestemt ikke den sidste bog jeg læser af denne serie.

This book was well done and I enjoyed the story but I couldn't get very into it. I had a hard time feeling a lot of sympathy for the different characters. It has a very definite liberal bent and several f-words. Both of these were turn-offs for me but not enough to destroy the story. Overall it was good but not a re-read.

this is bukowski's last novel. it is like no other novel of his that i have read. you can see in this book how he was developing all the way until the end. i liked it very much but would recomend reading at least two other bukowski novels before taking on this one.

Once again this author does not disappoint. This book has the usual ethical dilemma that all her other books have. It also has the unexpected ending. The story is presented from the point of view of many of the characters and the story unravels as each presents their own point of view. I couldn't stop reading this book once I got started. It was sad once again, and makes you realize how good you have it.

Truthfully, I thought this book will be a boring read and I said to myself that I can't appreciate classic novels. There were just descriptions upon descriptions in the book. But after analysing and evaluating the themes in this book, I found myself enjoying the book more because I understand it. This book really demands more patience and thinking from the average reader, much like Cormac McCarthy's Blood Meridian.

I put this in my "Youth" category bookshelf because I think it would be better suited to a younger audience (mid to late-teens ideally, I believe). That said, it makes a decent read for adults, too. I enjoyed the characters, the plotlines, the intricacies ... and would feel justified in reading it again if I so chose. And I almost gave this book a four-star rating because I think it deserves three-and-a-half, which isn't an option.
