Reading really isn't one of my thing. I find it hard to find time to read which is probably why I don't read that much. If I do end up reading it's for school and because iI have to. I mostly read books that people suggest to me and I usually end up liking the book. This year I'v figured out that the books I like to read are memoirs and non-fiction teen novels. These two genres are probably my favorite because I feel that I can relate and connect to theses kinds of texts. To me if iI can conncect to a book I can have a better understanding of it and stay interested. In the future i would like to introduce myself to new genres like poetry because I feel that you can learn important lessons though poetry and really exspand your vocabulary. The book that I really enjoyed reading this year was Running With Scissors by Augusten Burroughs. This is a memoir about a young boy who struggles to be normal while living with his mothers phyco theropist, dealing with an insane mother, and being with a pedaphile. The craziness of the story left me wanting to read to see what kind of chaos would happen next. This book not only left me wanting to read the sequelbut made me really appreciate memoirs.

It kind of drives me crazy how Dumas spends 3 or 4 chapters building up a new character, just to never mention him again. But overall, a good read.

This book was fabulous. Few books ever take me back to being sixteen, and it be a good thing. Usually you just remember the crapiness that went along with that age. This made me remember all the good times. Being surround by friends, family, and all the things that went along with summer. Especially summer love. I loved every minute of it, which is probably why I stayed up till three am reading it. We find out pretty early that the boy's mother used to have breast cancer and I knew from that moment on this book was going to be harder for me to read than I originally thought, seeing as how my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer last Christmas and had just finished undergoing radiation. This book just hit so close to home in so many ways. Belly was exactly like I remember being when I was sixteen. A little whiney, but just wanting to be included. Seeing her crushing on a boy she knew her whole life... Well let's just say I've been there too. All in all, I related so well to this book. It was the perfect end of summer read. And you can bet your butt I'll be continuing this series.
