This was/is/will be my favorite book of all time. Not only do i love the berenstein bears and feel like a 5 year old every time i read this book, I also LOVE the illustrations. I mean, the candy bars look slightly like big lumps of poop, but STILL look so tasty! Everything is so colorful...i suppose the purpose is to steer kids away from eating junk food, but this book definitly heightened my affinity for candy. If there were 7 stars possible, I would give them all to this book.

A solid, brainless, entertaining read that will keep you engaged from the beginning to the end. You definitely have to read the trilogy, though, if you choose to start this.

The comparison of Hegel and Freud (the ruses of reason vs. the ruses of desire) is simply the single most brilliant discussion comparing these two thinkers that I have seen. The discussion of Freud is, quite naturally, intelligent; but buy the book for the comparison of Hegel and Freud. The ruses of Reason face to face with the ruses of Desire might be the best short description of human life we have...

The best book I have read in the last two years. I wish there was another book like this out there that captured me and moved me like this one. I have never learned SO MUCH from a book. And don't let the non fiction part scare you. It was riviting. It was important. I can't reccomend it enough.

Characters poorly developed. Only person I cared about was Lawrence, whose end was abrupt and i really didn't realize it had happened until the following chapter. Simplistic ending. Author couldn't decide whether Di was clever or dull-witted, kept going back and forth. Glad I read library copy.
