I listened to this book on CD. The story itself was very interesting. The things that happen are not even things I could imagine. However, once the author comes to America, she is, at times, almost ungrateful about the support given to her. This kind of turned me off to her.

Okay, so I read it without reading too deeply into how clowning is a metaphor for real life and corporate clowning is selling out and that you have to be an artist, not a whore... I understand that it all relates to the bigger picture, and it could get preachy at times, but that was easy enough to ignore and I ended up really enjoying the book. For some reason, I found myself really cheering for Nita, even though I couldn't identify anything particularly likable about her. I just wanted her to dump Rex, dump Crack, dump Herman, get together with the adorable good-cop archetype and be a happy clown. And in the end, she did, and that makes it good in my book. The end.

First book in the Bone Island Trilogy does not disappoint. It seem frought with a little too much history that is redudnant throught out and drags out an otherwise good story. The wax museum and murders were well done. The characters were likeable and you cared. Overall a good story.

My absolute favorite book as a kid. It's a story about a frog who thinks he is a prince, and he goes around doing princely deeds to prove it. After coming up with brilliant ideas like using the local dragon as a trash incinerator, the people decide that he really is a prince, and it doesn't matter than he's a frog. I like how he manages to change people's perceptions and how in the end, he's content with being a frog. The illustrations are really trippy too. Reminiscent of Yellow Submarine. It's a book worth looking for, you can buy it used at Amazon. They have some pictures of the illustrations there too, just search there instead of on goodreads.
