I read it quite a while ago so I don't remember exactly, just that I liked it. England, an immigrant family with teenage kids and all the crazy things that happen...
I never thought I'd read about Paris from a cowboy's perspective -- but the author stayed in an apartment around the corner from my old Paris apartment when working on the book (per the jacket cover), so I picked it up. Now, I doubt me and Rowdy have a lot in common - but we sure seem to hit a lot of the same spots (except I've never quite enjoyed the Catacombs the same as is). A good tale, good humor writing, enjoyable read.

Enh. Not bad but not engrossing, either. One-note state of alarm through the whole thing kept me from getting close to the characters, a tough chick cop, her daughter, and her mage sister.I don't care what happens next.

Miss Julia is a delightful character. I will definitely have to read some of her further adventures.

Dark Glamour is the continuation/sequel, to 666 Park Avenue. Jane and Malcolm are still married though they have separated in hopes that it will be harder for the “bad guys” to find them. Jane has decided to stay in New York and try and make it up to the friends whose lives she has endangered and also to figure out a way to get Lynne Doran, her evil Mother-in-Law, to leave them alone. While trying to figure out where Malcolm is, Jane discovers a secret that she thinks Lynne would give anything to know. This little tidbit may be her ticket to some peace and quiet…but then that would be too easy, wouldn’t it. It took me 3 days to read this book. That is highly unusual for me…if I’m enjoying the book it’s done in little more than 24 hours. This one just didn’t “grab” me; on top of that, it moved very slowly. In a word I was BORED! I didn’t really care what happened. Jane spent way too much time mentally debating EVERYTHING! Not just the big stuff but inconsequential stuff like what shoes to wear. Snooze-ville! And it was predictable! I knew what was going to happen long before it ever did…with the exception of one event involving Jane’s grandmother at the end of the book. Overall, the story was pretty good if you could get past the minutiae. Pierce left us hanging, yet again, and I am curious as to how the series will be resolved. I just hope she gets there a lot faster in the next book.

Could've sworn I marked this one as a lost cause a while back. IMO Duncan tries too hard to fill the shoes of Douglas Adam -- attempting a joke or witty comment in every single paragraph, and failing miserably the majority of the time...

I found this book to be a bit less than I expected after listening to the NPR interview with Carrie Fisher, which prompted me to purchase it in the first place. Some was a bit too predictable, and lacked the substance that I like to discover when reading about another's journey; painful, bittersweet or otherwise. Many books that I have read one I usually do revisit again. This is one that I will likely not.

I think this is my first time reading the series on my own (how shameful!) though my mother did read them all aloud to me several times. This is the book that I remember the most from: The dugout house, the leeches, Charlotte left in the puddle, Laura slipping into the creek, buying the slate ... ahhh.

Not bad, but I'm not sure what all the fuss was about. Aside from an overly complex plot, I don't know what separates this from the comics of my youth. The art is unimpressive.

Sadece sevdim!
