The style of writing is WAY over exaggerated, and I can see why the author has experienced success as a columnist. However, to maintain that level of overstatement thoroughout an entire novel is just irritating. And even though we ALL know how a dog story is going to end, I still cried. Guess I really am a dog lover after all!

I couldn't put this one down. Not a great ending, but the whole book was worth while. Great if you are interested in zombies and cell phones causing the apocolypse. I'm hoping for a sequel, soon!
I absolutely LOVED this book. It hits close to home as a parent but it's undeniably great writing and a great story. I plan to watch the movie on DVD this wkd.

I loved the series, and this may be my favorite book from the series because it's when we first meet Harry, and Hermione and Ron, Mr. and Mrs. Weasley, Fred, George, so many of them. And we see them first meet each other. We had so much fun with this series as a family--I'm forever to Ms. Rowling for it.

First of all, I love the cover of this book. Look at it, isn't it stunning? I thought On The Fringe would just be a very sweet and cute read and while it started out that way, I was pleasantly surprised when it also turned out to have just the right amount of suspense. The characters were very likeable. Daniel was just a genuinely nice guy. The kind that would help you if you needed it even if he really didn't have the time or resources. I did get the feeling during the book that he was a little bit of a playboy before he fell in love with Claire. Claire was sweet and innocent and I loved that she so readily accepted seeing Daniel again and was very calm about the whole thing. While I'm fascinated by the idea of ghosts and other supernatural creatures actually existing, I can't guarantee that I wouldn't run off if I ever encountered a dead loved one (at least the first time I saw them). Addie and Matthew weren't a big part of the story, so I didn't really get to know them. But I got the feeling that Addie wouldn't win Best Friend of the Year anytime soon. I loved the story. I liked the way the author portrayed life after death. And I liked the concept of the four and a half minutes. I also liked the friendship between Addie, Claire, Daniel and Matthew. While I don't have a brother I'm pretty sure they're not known for hanging with their younger sisters. The POV shifts from Claire to Daniel and while I'm really not a fan of multiple POV's, I found myself really liking the change. I also loved that some scenes were done from both POVs. You'd think that that would be boring( or at least I would) but that really wasn't the case. It was actually really insightful. This was just a really nice, enjoyable read.
