Awww, poor little puppy! It always seems to come in last for everything, whether it's getting to nurse or getting picked to go home with a new owner. But, lo and behold, sometimes being last turns out to be first in other ways. A really cute story! My son has been obsessed with "winning" and "losing" as well as "first" and "last" lately, so this was a good read to show him that it doesn't always matter if you're first or last.

A beguiling seductive novel. Binx Bolling is trying to figure out his life as he turns 30 or perhaps more accurately people are trying to figure it out for him. In his mind the stockbroker job is not particularly taxing while delivering a steady stream of new secretaries, and whenever he needs meaning in his life he goes to the movies. Over the course of the week he decides to find meaning in his life. It's all much less sophmoric then one would imagine, in fact it is splendid. I just wish I could have set up more time aside to read the book in greater chunks. By the way how great a name is Binx.

I judge people by this book. For instance, when I hear people say that they love this book I mentally put a tick in the "potentially psycho" box category. This is a book about a misanthropic rapist who does whatever he wants and doesn't care about anyone and all that is supposed to be just fine and dandy. Don't get me wrong, I'm down with a little individualism, but Ayn Rand takes it to new and disturbing heights. This of course is all contextualized by the new revelations of her love of some psychotic serial killing Russian or some such business that recently came to light. So call me petty because I can't get over the fact that the main character rapes another character who secrectly likes it and is thereafter attracted to him, but I think the guy is a douchebag and a prick and Ayn Rand is crazy. And that's how I feel about The Fountainhead. Thank you.

A very interesting and easy-to-read book for those who work with different types of univariate analysis of variance (ANOVA). I believe reading and working through this book is a must for those who are doing research in the field of humanities. Although the authors tried to cover some basic statistical concepts briefly; reading this book requires basic knowledge about hypothesis testing, and experimental design.
