** spoiler alert ** I was very surprised when a good friend told me her fav Potter was #3. I shared this with my hubs, who informed me that his fav Potter was also Azkaban! What the what? I was laboring under the assumption that most people's favorites fell between GOF and DH. So, re-read time! Most notable as the book where we get Sirius (see what I did there?) POA also introduces well loved characters Lupin, Trelawney, Cedric Diggory, Crookshanks, Pigwidgeon, and not so well loved Cho Chang and Cornelius Fudge. With the Weasley's trip to Egypt, the Knight Bus, Azkaban, and Hogsmeade we get the sense that the Wizarding world really is a world, and not just contained to Hogwarts and Diagon Alley. I'm still having a head scratching moment about the end (didn't Snape always know it was Pettigrew? Sirius mentions that all the Death Eaters in Azkaban thought that the double crosser had double crossed them...) but can see why this is top some people's list. Thoroughly enjoyed, highly recommended (because, duh, it's Harry Potter) but if we're going best of the best it's Order of the Phoenix all the way

I didn't realize this was a comic book until I got it from the library. I read it in a few hours. I really enjoyed it. Depicts a boy questioning his faith, love and his ability to make friends. Not "preachy", not hypocritical, the author does a good job in portraying the life of a good guy who is trying to figure out how to be good.

Campion is one of the premier sleuths of the 1930s and he is so likable and self-effacing that he sometimes seems to fade into the woodwork while he cogitates on his latest mystery. This story, one of my favorites of the series, involves some dirty tricks being played upon a dancing star of a popular British revue and Campion is called in to investigate. The tricks escalate into more than one murder and, to complicate the situation, Campion falls in love with the star's wife (although this issue is not necessarily central to the plot). Until the last few pages, Campion is wrong about the identity of the murderer although he has uncovered most of the evidence for the police.....his infallibility is endearing. I miss his manservant Lugg in this story as he makes a very limited appearance......he is such a great character. If you have not read the Campion mysteries, you should run out and find all you can.....they are extremely entertaining.
