I always thought at this point in my life things would be getting easier. Now I am finding I am busier than ever and pulled in more directions then I thought possible. It is almost like we are sandwiched between children--our parents and our own children. Now is a great time to spend time with our adult children and their kids. They are wonderful relationships without the stress of the resposibility, but not so much with our aging parents. It is so hard to make the decisions our parents need us to make without feeling guilty or frustrated. This book was very informative about the decisons we have to make and the anger they feel, as well as our own guilt. I was glad to find someone who addressed this subject. It seems most people ignore it.

Jennifer Cole’s Reclaiming Zarah is non-traditional romance. Zarah is married to Jack. Lane is, however, just as much a part of that marriage as the two legally married partners. Their ménage relationship is not just physically intense, as would be expected of such a threesome, but emotionally intense. At least it was until the twins were born. With the pressures of raising two newborns, the threesome hasn’t had a chance to give themselves over to such intimacy; or is the reason something more dire, like a drifting apart? Reclaiming Zarah is an excellent story. Technically, Cole is quite skilled. Not only is the physical structure of the writing flawless as far as I can tell, she proves that writing is an art as much as a science. Her transitions between the characters is not just flawless, it’s a smooth transition the makes the reader feel like it’s perfectly natural; like tilting one’s head to the side. It’s writing like this that makes the very process of reading a pleasure. The story itself is lovely; a beautiful look at the trials that every relationship occasionally goes through. The concerns and worries of all three lovers are believable, understandable and expressed with a good balance between recognizing them and trying to mentally argue that they’re silly (like we all have done ourselves). Jennifer’s writing skill extends to the erotic as well. The sexual scenes are well written and very hot. They flow naturally from the story without that feeling like they were struck in just for titillation’s sake. Only the desire to finish the story itself gave me the ability to keep going instead of taking care of business, as it were. Anti-climactic and disappointing. I don't know what I expected, really, but... not that? I thought that for the last book, he'd break out of the mould, write something truly spectacular for an ending to the series... but no.

Fablehaven is a book written by Brandon Mull. The book is is about Seth and Kendra Sorenson go to their Grandma and Grandpas house for a couple of week. Their Grandpa only gave them 1 rule and that was too not go into the woods but Seth being his adventurous and curious self had to go out to venture. Seth ran into a shack where an old lady was in. The lady was a very scary one with 2 knots tied around a tree trunk wichshe sat on. Seth left they old lady as she offered him some tea but as he was running out of the forest he felt as if someone was throwing rocks at him and chasing him but luckily he got to the house. Kendra was given a set of keys form her grandpa who said try to find what they unlock she finally found a little shelf that fits they key, she opened the shelf and on the last place of a journal which was in the shelf said "drink the milk." Kendra became curious and went to tell Seth about it. There was a man who lived with them his name was daryl and every morning he set out a tin of milk and all the butterflies would surround and drink the milk. Both Kendra and Seth drank the milk and their eyes opened up to a whole new world of faries imps and many other creatures. The old lady at the shacks name was Muriel she was a witch and the 2 knots were keeping her in prison. They had to untie the 2 knots in order to save both Seth and grandma. Fablehaven is a very cool book but is also kind of boring. It is very well explained but also very long. On page 36 of Fablehaven it just goes on and on about what the shack and Muriel look like. I think that is very annoying but on page 99 it talk about these certain faries and he explained them bery simplily and that is a part I personally liked because of it. Brandon Mull needs to know how to make some things short and sweet and somethings long Another part I did like about the book is that it wasnt as suspensful as I think the author wanted it. At the ed of the chapter Hugo Lena says we need to make our preparations for the night and to me that isnt very powerful I wish he would have put a little more zinc to the end you know? But sometimes in the middle of the chapters or in the beggining he made some parts very exiting and made me want to read more and more. But I still think he needs to make the end of the chapters more suspensful. Another thing that I didnt like about the book its self was that the chapters were way to long and there wasnt any numbering. For people like me we like to have a nice simple goal like I am going to finish 3 chapters tonight but for Fablehaen that is about 50 pages. I like books with kind of short chapters. Now one thing that I really really like was all of the creatures and the settings and characters. My favorite creature are the brownies. If something is broken you could always count on them to not only fix it but improve it and while their at it they will make you the most delicious thing out f the oddest of ingredients. And my favorite character was the curious Seth. You could always count on him to break the rules because of his curiousity. But one thing that bugged me is that even from seth being turned into a walrus he still didnt learn is lesson. Fablehaven is a great book with a few minority problems that could be fixed very very easily. It has very great creatures and very good characters as well. I recommend this book to people who consider themselves as nerds, but me? I did not like it so much. I still consider myself a nerd though.

I was anxiously awaiting the release of this book and got to be the first from our library to read it! It lived up to my expectations. I've read Mull's previous series **Fablehaven** and liked it. This is also fantasy but very different from the last series. A typical American middle-school boy accidentally ends up in an alternate world. In seeking the way home, he becomes entangled in the dangers and intrigues happening in that world and must make a decision about what is most important.

so far I think this book is really good, I remember when I watched the movie I cried for so long based off of my current relationship with my father. I like the book a lot more than the movie, as is the case with most books made into movies in my opinion.

I read this book years ago, and I liked it. I remember the anecdote relating Wittgenstein's figuring out how to fix a machine that had broken. At the time, Wittgenstein was living and teaching in a small town. How he came to be there I don't remember. I decided to write about this now because of a "sermon" I heard yesterday (at our Unitarian Universalist fellowship) about the human brain. Our brain has evolved, and we still have brain functions like those of lizards, like those of small furry mammals, like those of monkeys, and like those of dolphins. Unfortunately, I am tired at the moment and not thinking as clearly as I might.
The most grotesque and difficult book I have ever finished. Its not the graphic descriptions that trouble me, but the tone of the killers as they discuss it. Methodical is probably the best word. Similar storytelling style to Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down but with less heartfelt enjoyment at the end.
