I literally started this book this morning and was finished with it by 2pm. So, it's definitely a quick read. Well done, too. Haddon takes the perspective of a fifteen year old boy with autism and does a wonderful job of getting inside this boy's head and making what's there relatable and understandable. I'd recommend it!

I loved this book! There is so much symbolism and history. I was absolutely hooked from the first page until the last page. There are two separate stories going on, but both are good stories that are intertwined. My new favorite book and author.

I am getting annoyed at how she is making the Amish out to be the bad guys here. The author is of Amish heritage but no longer Amish so while she respects them for their good qualities she ALWAYS makes sure to have a character in every book who "rises above" I don't know why but that is just bugging me. I still love the books though

This is one of Neruda's collections of love poetry, as opposed to his political work. It was my first reading of Neruda's writing, and I was floored. At nineteen, I wasn't big on love poetry because I found it maudlin. But, the poems of The Captain's Verses seem like they can be spoken by a man without a significant reduction in masculinity. The edition I have presents the Spanish version on one page, and the English translation on the facing page. Even with my meager Spanish skills, I was able to read parts of the originals and realize they are much better than their translation. My favorites: La Reina (“The Queen”) and Tu Risa (“Your Laughter”). Young men should read it as a how-to guide before wooing young ladies, but beware the consequences (I'm now married).

This story is about a teenaged girl, who is generally pretty good. She gets into a relationship with a bad boy, and of course it gets her into trouble (not the pregnant kind). Her mom is a librarian, and starts making her daughter go to a seniors' reading group that she hosts with her. Through this, the story gets really funny when the group kidnaps one of their own from a nursing home to deliver her to her long-lost true love. The seniors in this story are a kick in the pants, and to make it even more poignant, something terrible happens that made me cry at the end. It's a great story, read it.

I'll read anything if it means more good food and convo with this amazing group of women. I am totally looking forward to the next utterly uniteresting book for October.

This book changed my life and my perspective forever. Immaculee Ilibagiza has a beautiful heart that shines in her writing. This is one of the most spiritually uplifting books I have read outside scripture - akin to Corrie Ten Boom's "The Hiding Place." A powerful story - and I'm glad to know more about the history of Rwanda, after enjoying the film, "Hotel Rwanda."

If you want a to read book about Asperger's, this isn't it. It was a good story, but I was expecting to have it focus more on the autism of this child. If that is the kind of book you are looking for, read House Rules by Jodi Picoult.
