I liked it. Marley is a very unique young man who loves Star Trek and is a member of the AV club who is trying to get through school without being noticed. The book begins by identifying himself as "invisible" but as we learn more about him, nothing is at it seems. Made me remember to see beyond the exterior of a person and look deeper into the person and his life. Great book for middle schoolers and a possible way to start conversations about bullying.

I can't imagine not getting into this book, regardless of whether or not you're into extreme sports. I still have no desire to take up mountain climbing, but I feel as if I have a better understanding of that hobby. And now when I hear on the news about climbers stranded on a mountain I can more clearly picture what it must be like for them out there. This book was such a page turner for me that when I had to put it down I could only think about getting back to the book.

Felt like a short episode, that may be read without the novels, because they do a bit of back story delving. It was like a 'welcome back' to the world of Harry Dresden with all the snarkiness, danger, and magic, and spurs me on to catch up on the titles I fallen behind on.

This is a pretty great text. The eager physics student should jump between this and Feynman's lectures, as least for the wealth of problems provided in the latter. Feynman presents many unique problems, and sometimes different solutions for problems in this book; two methods of solving a problem are always better than one!

The Last Dickens is both mystery and historical fiction, and although it moves a bit slowly as a mystery, the rich period detail and well-drawn characters (including Dickens himself) more than make up for the pace. Pearl does a nice job of weaving several threads that seem unrelated in the early chapters into a credible pay off at the end. He gets extra props from me for his postscript describing which characters and incidents in the book come from his research and which were entirely fictional.
