En Güzel Çocuk Masalları Hansel Ve Gretel TrendKitaplar Kütüphanesi

'Geektastic' - the word itself is probably the best way to sum up this book. A combination of short stories, comics, and illustrations by an assortment of artists and writers in various nerdy careers makes up the whole of this book, and to anyone in the same geeky boat, it really shows. The stories range from your average Live Action Role Playing (LARPing) socially awkward high schooler to forum text-based roleplayers, those living the life enough to be responsible for running the conventions that the thousands flock to every year to the attendees of such conventions. The conflicts? Should one still be associating with an ex-girlfriend who poisoned and killed your immortal MMORPG character? Should one trust the online characters that someone portrays as their personality? Should Buffy fans be allowed to rally against one of their own? And most importantly – what happens when a long night at a convention ends up with a Jedi sleeping with a Klingon? All such issues are dealt with and discussed, and to your all-encompassing geek, many of the stories strike close to home, and often make you smile with joy at recognizing every tiny reference that the just-as-nerdy authors slip in. Because of the different authors in this book, it is difficult to pinpoint one particular author or story and analyze their writing, but in each story, it is apparent that the writers are determined to leave their reader feeling like a part of the story. With the group that this particular accumulation of stories is aimed at, this means lots and lots of mentioning of obscure and esoteric things. Over the course of the book, I found myself chuckling several times at the multiple references to Doctor Who (the collection of roleplayers all wearing the scarves of incredible length was a nice touch), and Buffy (‘Excuse me, I have a vampire to slay!’), while also finding nice, small tributes to various comics, anime, video games, and tv shows including Guitar Hero, Star Trek, Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, Heroes, and the list goes on. Altogether, I’d have to say it was a pretty good book. A few of the stories near the mid-point got a bit tedious after reading several of the same nature in a row, and many of the quicker-paced ones are up near the front of the book, so you’ll get half through, and may even get bored. A lot of what entertained me about the book, as well, might go over the heads of someone who hasn’t lived the full of their life in popular geekdom, which is sad, because a majority of the book’s humor comes from the nerdy aspect of the stories more than anything else. For instance, if you don’t know what the ‘Alignment Chart’ is (because you haven’t either been on forums or 4chan enough), you miss out on a good third of a particular story. Without any knowledge of Jedi or Klingons, the first story, which is my personal favorite, will go right over your head, and you will likely fail to see the hilarious aspects of the story. So, my final say? If you’re a nerd, go ahead and have a good read. Trust me, you’ll enjoy it. If you’ve just started to find your way into the Labyrinth of geekdom, I recommend that you wait a year or so, or have Wiki open while you’re reading.

Haram Lokma - -Roman- TrendKitaplar Kütüphanesi

2.5 stars I hate when I read a book and feel really dense for not getting it. I feel like I should have felt sympathetic towards Jessa and relate to her heart break after having her heart crushed by a slime ball boyfriend but I really couldn't and found it hard to figure out why I should like her at all. If you know why please let me know. I know she's a teenager and just caught her boyfriend rolling around in a tongue lock with another girl but from what we begin to see maybe she did bring it upon herself. She gets so caught up in herself and what's going on in her life that she's oblivious to what's going on around her even with those who are her supposed best friends. Then she obsesses so much over the break up she can't even enjoy herself the tiniest bit even though she is traveling to all these amazing destinations, seeing places I can only dream of and meeting wonderful people like Dylan Thomas, a funny, nice guy, from another school. She even has the nerve at one point to accuse one of her best friends of being distant because he meets someone else on the trip and stops paying her attention 24/7. Then there are all these little things she finds out about her relationship with her boyfriend and best friend that gives you the impression that she was pretty self-absorbed even before the break up. The other part that wierded me out was her relationship with one of the chaperones Mr. Campbell. Maybe it's the way I read it but some of their interactions seemed totally inappropriate for a teacher/student relationship even if the teacher is young and cool. It would not have been so bad if amidst all of her misery and confusion Jessa acts rashly and does something she knows is totally inappropriate but I got the impression that even though the teacher knows it's wrong he wishes he could pursue it. The only part that I found fun in reading this book was the wife of one of the chaperones from the school that joins Jessa's school on the tour. The comments that come out of her mouth are so unbelievable that you just have to laugh. She's the epitome of the ugly American tourist and you can't help but feel sorry for everyone that has to travel with her. Other than that this book was quite the let down for me. There are several other things that bothered me but I don't want to get into as it would start giving away bits and pieces of the story but they just did not flow well in my opinion and never came together in the end.
