I'm abandoning this one for now for several reasons. First, I thought it would offer insight about the psychology and dynamics of May-December romances in general. Instead, the book focuses on pretty specific circumstances, namely when middle-aged men leave their middle-aged wives for younger women. It also seemed to imply the inevitability of such a fate, which bothered me. I may pick it back up later but for now, I've moved on.

Originally read in March 2000: Hesse created a spiritually themed book that isn't overbearing, which is refreshing, in my opinion. It was simple and concise but not weak or unimaginative. Hesse's themes, such as knowledge can be taught, but wisdom must be learned from experience, were reinforced but not overly aggressive. His style was terse but not curt, and the characters lended themselves well to the religious quest story without becoming overly didactic. June 2011: There's a calm to this story that I don't believe I appreciated as much as a sophomore in high school. Overall, though, my review still stands.

If you resent having to devote all your time to your job, and you feel like a whiny brat because of it, the introduction to this book will soothe your worry by putting your complaints into context. If you are like me, however, you will become so soothed that you will immediately lose interest. I'm giving it 3 stars because I really enjoyed the first 40 pages, but the sad truth is that I was too lazy to read any more.

I am a sucker for a "geek and freak" story. I also love a good cougar story. Lucky for me, WRONG is just the right combination of the two! This little shortie features shy Katie who is much more comfortable hiding behind her latest book about the big bang theory than swapping "sexy talk" with her leather clad admirer. Well, scratch that...she is shy until she gets a few drinks in her system at which point, she loses all her inhibitions and makes no bones about what she wants with her freaky-hot, young Michael. Shelby Morgen does a great job at creating interesting and likeable...and HOT characters in a short story. I loved Michael's confidence and how he successfully enticed Katie's more adventurous, sexy side to the surface with a little dirty talk and naughty promises. Looking for a quickie? WRONG will surely tickle your fancy in all the right places! **Reviewed on I ♥ Bookie Nookie Reviews and The Romance Reviews. ✳✳ Copy provided by the author/publisher for an honest review.

Heavy going, like really rich chocolate cake, to be savoured and not devoured in one sitting.

I read this book after I saw the movie.. Hey cut me some slack, i was 17!!! The book was fabulous.. uber fabulous even.. and the fact that Edith Wharton basically is a chronicler of manners and still wrote a beautiful, readable book is fantastic.. I would highly recommend this book... I minused one point because i hate the ending... Ok, OK it couldn't end any other way but i still don't have to like it...

It took me a while to decide how I felt about this one. I am a big Ann Patchett fan, I feel lucky to have stumbled on Patron Saint of Liars when it came out, and I’ve read everything she’s written since. For me this one took almost more suspension of disbelief than I was willing to grant. And at times, it felt like trudging, swimming through Marina’s muddy dreams, to get to the place where this story finally became engaging. But once she got to the Amazon the descriptions of her experience were riveting and palpable. My favorite line: “Never be so focused on what you’re looking for that you overlook the thing you actually find.”

I bought this hard-bound copy at the 2011 ALA Midwinter Conference, and I plan to give it to a friend's child soon. The pictures capture many characteristics of a cat that only someone who is a cat-lover can convey. Pitschi, the little scrawny black cat (with a tuxedo coat of color), endures an epic journey in which she ponders what it would be like to be many other animals, survives an illness with bravery and Madeleine-esque vulnerability, and discovers how many, many farm animals have become her friends. The writer, Hans "fis," Fischer, was a highly influential children's book illustrator with an inspiring career, briefly described on the last page of this book. Pitschi is a must for collectors of children's books about cats and will be enjoyed by parents and children at all ages.

One of my very favorite books. But I feel as though you have to read this when you're in one of those somewhat depressed/misanthropic moods for it to really be a super fantastic read. I read it in high school so that sums up why I adored it so much.
