Quite formulaic and James Bondish. It had great potential and I was expecting a lot more. Cannot compare to his first NYT bestseller because this is my first Bell reading.

just finished Huntress and liked it very much, the characters more than the story itself, but then it ended and I didn't feel like it was quite enough of a completion. I am hoping the next two continue the story... will add to this review as I continue.

Only half way through (it's slow-going), and I can't even begin to say how disappointed I am. What have you done with my two bestest characters George R. R. Martin?? Tyrion and Jon, remember them? Apparently not. :/ For shame!!!

Didn't finish this one... The conceit is that the 80's are ultimately cool again, because of an online game that leaves the wealth of the richest man in the world to whoever wins it. This richest man was obsessed with 80's culture, so the book is too. I was a teenager in the 80's, so I thought this would be fun- god knows I'm a huge geek! But I couldn't get into it. Whether it was fawning over John Hughes movies (I'm not the biggest fan) or gaming references (I game, but still...) it just seemed a little too pleased to finally allow its freak flag to fly. I stopped reading after a scene in which two teenagers, having a conversation as avatars, totally school a third avatar which doesn't know as much about 80's video games as they do. In your face, noob! Eh, I may be a geek, but I'm not a jerk. The writing is hitchy, the gender relationships are as embarrassing as you'd think in a book written about boys with few social skills, and much as I love the 80's, this felt over the top to me. Don't think this will stand the test of time.

A beautiful book that every literate person should read.

(Review originally posted on Alexa Loves Books) The book prior to this one - Shiver - became one of my unexpected favorites when I first read it. Linger was a brilliant continuation to the series, though it did not top the effect that the first book had on me. I liked the fact that we get to see a growth in the lives of some of the beloved characters from the first book in this one - we see Sam's struggle to deal with the fact that he's finally been cured; we watch the continued development of the lovely relationship between Grace and Sam; we see Grace's struggle as she grapples with the truth of her condition; we observe Isabelle's attempts to grow up and move past the things that have been haunting or (or at least be propelled forward by them). I still hold a lot of affection for those three, and their characters in this book were as mesmerizing as always. I also have developed a new crush on Cole. I do have a thing for the dangerous, bad boys in most books, I'll admit. But what really made me like Cole towards the end (I felt he was quite distasteful at the beginning) was the revelation of the issues he was struggling with, as well as how he eventually, sort of anyway, came to terms with it. He's now my favorite character and I can't wait to see what happens to him in Forever. The big twist that this novel revolves around (although I've been expecting it since the end of the last book) was portrayed quite realistically. I feel for Grace as she struggles to come to terms with the changes occurring in her, and I feel for the people surrounding her who care about her. It's such a sad, ironic, twisted way to end this second book - and I don't think it could have been done any better. The way the book ends definitely left me feeling a number of strong emotions - I was sad, I was relieved, I was smug (since I guessed what was happening already), I was angry (because it was such a huge cliffhanger, in its own way). Of course, without a doubt, I'll be picking up the next and final installment in the series - Forever - which is being released on July 12, 2011.

There were times in this book that I laughed outloud by some of the conversations. I found the writing really clever and endearing.

i really loved this book, Zsadist's story was so touching and really answered some questions i had had about the series... it was my fault that i didnt read them in correct order to begin with, but its ok. this book was just great, like all the others in this wickedly wonderful series!!

The book is not about identity crisis, but something universal and inherent in human nature- insecurity. Gogol is someone I hated and hated untill I realised how similar we both were. And that did change the kind of person I used to be. Namesake tells you how your background should not stop you from making the choices in life.
