Ulysses wife and her handmaidens chime in and revisit the Odyssey from the perspective of the more prominent mortal female characters. Very feminist – but also very imaginative- this compelling read was both thought provoking and fun. Great if you’ve read the original – but I’m guessing it would stand on its own as well. A fun and clever read. This novel is slight only in length and prose.

And Christiana must deal with an unwanted new “husband”…and they both must figure out what to do before the ice melts!* This book had some qualities that best appeal to me: humor, physical chemistry between the main characters, a murder mystery to solve and strong cast of secondary characters. This book also had an ingredient that has become an irritant to me. Characters who have sex much too quickly and then it's the "screech and roar" kind of sex that makes me roll my eyes. Seriously, who has ever screamed or roared during sex? I would think it would bring the neighbors running to the rescue, instead of knowingly smirking the next day as the secondary characters do here. Unfortunately, this kind of orgasm expression has become standard fare in many of Sands and other authors works. But, luckily, the rest of this book is not as over the top, but is an engaging, well-paced tale with a couple of scenes that may have you laughing out loud as I did.
