This review was originally written for The Romance Reviews at http://www.theromancereviews.com/view... This book is hard for me to get behind and cheer "Yay!" There is an equal share of positive and negative aspects to this book, which gave me "literary-whiplash." One moment I was on the path of enjoyment and increasing fondness of the secondary characters and Ms Adams's writing and then, out of nowhere, the main characters' lines of thought and reasoning and lack luster stalker storyline stole any enjoyment I previously had. Famous and celebrated actress and singer, Susan Sampson, proved to herself and everyone back home in Texas that she has what it takes to be a huge star. For ten years she worked tirelessly to become the award-winning entertainer she is today, but now all this notoriety and success are coming with a cost, an unrelenting stalker. Teddy Weston was destroyed when Susan sold one of his songs to a backstabbing music producer and he turned his back and heart on her, vowing never to trust her again. But now that Susan's safety is in jeopardy, the family has rallied behind her and appointed military-trained Teddy as her bodyguard. The past springs up when Susan and Teddy are forced to spend every minute together. With so much at stake, can they reclaim their connection before the hurtful past or the stalker separates them permanently? I regret reading a book where I truly do not want the hero and heroine together at the end of their story. Teddy is a royal pain-in-the-rear. Sometimes a hero can be arrogant, sarcastic, and brooding in an attractive manner. I found Teddy to be all of those things and very difficult to like. Teddy said some offensive things to Susan about the size of her rear end and eating habits, and even though I know Teddy was saying those things out of hurt, it only showed his immaturity. He acted like a hurt teenage boy and I don't want to be reading a hot romance that has a sexy cowboy acting like a kid in high school. Very unsexy. Susan is weak and not all-together bright. After snooping and reading Teddy's email from a twin (she thinks the twin is an adult), she stews on possible naughty scenarios between the twins and Teddy, which does make for fun reading. However, this misunderstanding goes on for far too long in the story and one starts to ask why Susan wants to fool around with someone who does things she personally abhors. This sounds like a weak woman who would forgo her morals so that she can have sexual encounters with an immature man. I wished Teddy's adoption of the twin girls and their brother was revealed sooner to Susan. As a reader, I could have had time to witness how well these two could love and raise children together and possibly show me what a good team they could be. Ms Adams's writing is good. I really mean that. The writing of individual scenes is excellent and I am proud to admit that the scenes between Teddy and the children were the best! I am not ashamed to admit that I did shed tears after reading the scene between Teddy and the kids in the kitchen towards the end of the book. Teddy's fatherly love came off the page and I felt it, believed in it. The sensual scenes with Susan and Teddy were hot, but these two fought all the time and I was always wondering how they could go from bickering and insulting each other in one scene and then suddenly going at it in the very next.
