"Whoever You Are" is a book about the equality among the different races around the world. It teaches children to understand that no matter what skin color or what country we are from, that underneath our skin we are all the same. This would be a great read for the first day of class especially at a diverse classroom. There are also many sight words and repetition throughout the story that students will find beneficial. It is also great for a lesson on respect, culture, and diversity.

I've been stalled halfway through this a long time, so finally I scanned it for the answers I wanted (mostly the resolution of certain people's identities), and finding myself totally unsurprised and not very impressed by the ending (the way the characters act), I decided to put it aside. I like Marillier's work, sometimes, but this one is a miss for me. Creidhe is just difficult to like, from the start, with her ideas about Thorvald and her insistence on making some eternal love affair out of a perfectly fine friendship. Somerled was a strange character in Wolfskin: compelling but repulsive at the same time, and it was hard to get into some kind of search for him -- hard to believe that he might have changed, harder to think of Eyvind's reaction if he hadn't, hard to imagine what the repercussions would be. And I wasn't fond of Thorvald, either. It all boiled down to not enough by way of interest in the characters, and then a slow-moving plot that just bogged itself down -- in my opinion. I might enjoy it more if I ever come to it in a different frame of mind and want to read it, but for now I'll set it down unfinished.

Very enjoyable read about the inner workings of late night television, focusing specifically on the Tonight Show/Jay Leno Show debacle. Carter portrays every player involved in the late night scene down to the finest detail. My one small complaint would be that at times it seemed like Carter's focus was too heavy on the executives involved. I found the anecdotes on the stars and their staff much more entertaining and enjoyable. If you're interested in late night television and it's impact on American culture, this is a must read.

This was the first Lawhead book I ever read. I really enjoyed it, and I've enjoyed pretty much everything else of his that I've read.

Interesting book that had just tons and tons of positive reviews. It’s funny how so many people find a book to be “mesmerizing” or “a page turner”. Although the story line was ok, it really didn’t seem to me to be a page turner. Edward Wozny is a young, successful investment banker. He is promoted to a new post in London. He has two weeks to report. On the first day or so, one of his clients requests that he take on a special project of cataloging their rare book collection. Even though Edward really doesn’t feel like doing it, he simply can’t say no. In fact, the entire book has Edward constantly not feeling like doing much of anything. He spends most of his time complaining about doing any work, yet every time he does, something somewhat exciting happens. He then lets it all go and becomes depressed again. Meanwhile, as the reviewers think it is “brilliant”, the author somehow ties a video game into the plot, having Edward become obsessed with it. Of course, the “surprise” of the story is that the video game is directly intertwined with the whole solution. The sad part of this “brilliant surprise clue” was that it was neither really “necessary”, nor was it really in the big picture “ a logical solution” created by the author. It could have done better without the whole video game aspect. But that is the very reason for all of the great accolades. The whole randomness of the author’s creation is only superseded by the apparent “geekiness” of the author. I love bibliophile sleuth books. This one clumsily plodded along and was sadly predictable.

This book surprised me in a good way, with a deeper back story and an adventure that I found to be both exciting and truly unpredictable. There was more to the plot than in most Goosebumps books. Again, the Horrorland story continued well, leaving me wanting more, but not wanting to wait for it! Fortunately, R.L. Stine seems to be releasing these books two at a time!
