I can't take any more. Yes, despite how little effort this takes to read, it's DNF. Maybe because all the good ideas have already been stolen by other books and leadership seminars I've been to? Maybe because so much of it seems like the author took a lot of techniques and discrete skills, understood that they need to be tied together and the closest tie he could identify was character? It feels looking at a puzzle after someone put it together in the dark: all I can see are the missing and misplaced pieces and it distracts me from the whole. Also, it's a lot more Jesus-y than I was expecting. Which I could deal with, if the rest of it was better, but it's not, so... I'm done. That said, if you like Jesus-y stuff, you might like this entire thing more than I did.

I read this novel after I had seen the little known filming starring a very young Mel Gibson back in the early 80s and before he broke out as a major Hollywood actor. I needed to read the novel. I couldn't get enough of the charcters. A sweet novel that shows everyone is entitled to love. I had lent this one out to a friend years ago and never got it back because this is one that warrants a re-read. I can not find it anywhere and I fear it is out of print.

ok, so it's cool-- teenage long distance open water swimmer communes with lost gray whale. BUT the writing is like lead dragging the story down. and she should stick to swimming rather than philosophizing-- maybe the publisher suggested that she pepper the otherwise straight description with her insights into life? anyway, it's a quick read so i can't complain too much.

Who would think that going to a 40 year high school reunion could be so funny? Several chapters introduce the characters several days before the big event. There is the full-of-himself jock, the cheerleaders, the nerds, the queen of the prom, etc. And there's plenty of fantasy of how the evening will end. It turns out it's true that when people go to a reunion, they become who they were and the role they had in high school. Except that some of those people didn't really feel the way they acted, they were just afraid to go against the tide and now they aren't. For the last couple of chapters I just couldn't stop laughing at the antics when the reunion is finally winding down, the last dance is to be danced, and there are tears, and truths revealed. Excellent reading, good characters, and am I ever so glad I didn't attend my reunion!

First of all, no 6 year old thinks like this!!! And second of all, it is perverted and disgusting! I even went back to read all the reviews and when I got to the one that said she wished she'd never read the book, I am glad I stopped at page 31...and there were two earlier times when I thought about stopping. One word to sum this book: trash In fact the cover of the book with the little girl is just too cute and oh so misleading!
