I read this book before all the hubbaloo about it, and loved it. I laughed, I cried, on a plane. I didn't get caught up in all the crap about how he might have made up five things, or ten, or two, I got caught up in the story. I was touched by his perspective.

King-Smith's books have so far been big winners for Logan, who is nearly 7 and loves animals. Elderly Muriel Ponsonby lives with so many cats, the townsfolk call her the Catlady. They like her because she is kind and polite, but they sense she's "barmy." Maybe that's because she's convinced that some of the cats she lives with are reincarnations of friends and family, including her parents. A sweet story about kindness, and an interesting intro for L to the concept of reincarnation and what the repercussions of that might be.

Overall, a slightly above-average procedural. It's hard for me to know how accurate it was since it was set in Denmark. (It did seem strange at times that well into the investigation the detective had to review key pieces of evidence she hadn't looked at before.) I did have to put aside my own biases, since the crimes involved internet dating and I tend to just roll my eyes when I hear such things and think, "How is finding someone on the internet less safe than finding someone in a bar? Isn't it actually MORE safe since you can check someone out in advance?" It's well paced. The plot isn't too predictable, though she does string you along a couple of times and then pulls a gotcha. The protagonist is a type that I'm seeing more these days: the female cop, devoted to her job, a little messed up in her life. Perhaps we can thank the UK's Prime Suspect for that, since Helen Mirren did it so swimmingly. I don't mind it. I much prefer it to the typical alcoholic washed up male cop out for revenge that is seen so much more often. The mix between Louise's home life and work life is done well, perhaps that's one of the best things about this book. It moves through her life and you feel like you really do get to know her and her habits. A quick read, solid enough. Apparently Blaedel is quite popular in Denmark but this is her first book in the US. I'm not sure yet if I'll read her next one.

The Millennium cookbooks are company cookbooks. Most of the recipes are complex enough, that for anyone with a day job, making them on a daily basis would be nearly impossible (although there are parts to some recipes that can be whipped up fairly quickly if you're just looking for a good sauce or side). Depending on where you live, some of the ingredients can be either esoteric or expensive. (I, for instance, am unsure of whether or not I would eat mushrooms picked in Central Park, even if I could find them, whereas there seem to be an abundance of good places in Northern California to pick them.) Also a plus in a vegan cookbook, The Artful Vegan contains a number of photographs, which is helpful as a number of vegan cookbooks do not.

** spoiler uyarısı ** Percy Jackson ve Olympians'ın ilk kitabı. Benim için ilk kitap gerçekten önemlidir, çünkü bu size dizi hakkında bir fikir verir. Hikaye güzel yazılmış ve Girit'te tatildeyken gizemli koşullarda yakalanan genç bir kadının hikayesini anlatıyor - sadece kristal sularında yüzmeyi ve Beyaz Dağlarda yürüyüş hayal edebiliyorum. Karakterler sayfadan atlıyor ve her seferinde hikayeye süpürülüyorum (hikayeyi bozmadan çok fazla ayrıntıya giremiyorum) - kolay bir okumadan daha ne isteyebilirsiniz?
