Action packed, but knocking a star off for the cliche sex scenes which added nothing except to up its sleaze factor and unnecessarily slow the book.

I can't believe I finished this book - it was so spooky bad! What kind of mind conceives a plot like this - & then actually puts it in ink? Please don't bother reading this book.

I am reserving judgment until I have the chance to go back and dissect it at more length. (Fancy way of saying I did not fully understand it due to a lack of pondering and slow study on my part)

A painful memory of the recent past when psychiatrist's tried to cure gay men and lesbians on a regular basis.

Love it when Mule hollow and Dry Creek come together! This was another great storyline for both Debra Clopton and Janet Tronstad. The characters that we have all come to know and love still make their appearances in their respective towns. I love how the fact that sisters are trying to find their own niece and nephew and in the process find out more about themselves and the family they never knew. Both face uphill battles with the guardians of both of the children, but in the end love of family wins out and both find a their match that God has picked just for them. I also love how the fact that adoption is talked about...there are negative and positive experiences for all involved. Ultimately one can't put all their faith and hope in man, only God can truly fill that roll as our Father. The analogy to us being adopted into his family is woven through both of these tails and the test of faith each person encounters along the way only makes them stronger. Can't wait to see what happens next in Mule Hollow and Dry Creek!

More prophesying, little action, and a whole lot of the Savior coming to Dune. The impetus of the first book still carries the reader on.

This is a fantastic and spellbinding book. It's refreshing to read about a gay love affair between young men, even if it is tainted ultimately by the typical intolerance. The lightning scene at the top of the Empire State Building was extraordinary. I kept wishing I was Sammy or Tracy. The book could have done without some of the small plots (the new starts, chapter-by-chapter), the history, the comic book plotlines, but in general Chabon's done a really spectacular of job of structuring a lot of pages. I can't wait to read more of his stuff. I admire how he is able to appeal to a huge audience and still keep things literary.

the director of our student television station gave this to me when i worked for him around christmas my freshman year of high school. i didn't read it until i was a senior in college but if ever there was a book to read and say, that's so nicole. there's no robots or music, but there is a guy whose generous heart makes him a little looney in the eyes of everyone else. and he's an volunteer fire fighter, which is two sidesteps from floor fire warden in my book.

I first heard about this book from Nick Jewell, my fantastic biostatistics professor at Berkeley. He used it to explain the concept of "counterfactuals", e.g. the impossibility of knowing how your life would be different if lived over a second time. Hard to describe, but neat!

Absolutely amazing story. I never get tired of rereading it.
