Maybe more like 3.5. I vacillate between enjoying the books and being annoyed at Riordan's jokes that aren't all that funny. This book redeemed itself in the end when the stupid jokes stopped and some substance came out.

Quit, as it reads like a dissertation.

This is not the first time I have read this but it is the first time I have read it to Rowan. I love these books and we are working our way through them. I had tried to get Rowan to let me read them a few times but after seeing the movie she was way into the idea of reading them. I do tend to change the names some times calling her Rowan when I read out loud but the books are even better then I remember them. It could be because I am reading them to my own little Ramona!

This book takes an impossible story and makes it believable and very entertaining. There's all kinds of jumping around the timeline and perspectives from the two main characters at various points in their lives, but the author portrays it all in a way that keeps it from getting too confusing. I was really impressed by it.

I listened to this on CD, and it made for an interesting travelogue. The author travels around the globe to the most and least happy places, as defined by a Dutch study, and tries to discover what makes people happy. It's the simple stuff...

I really enjoyed the book. Although the ending was unexpected, it was a fun read, especially with all of the all of the twists and turns. Some characters I really loved: Magnus Bane - he really kept me laughing the entire time; Simon - I will not spoil it for those of you who are reading it, but he undergoes an extremely unexpected change, and although it's ironic, it suits him as well; and Alec and Isabelle -those two are really funny, especially in their own little moments. Of course I love the main characters Clary and Jace, especially Jace and his wry humor. All in all, I loved the book, and I'm looking forward to reading the next one! Some of the things I enjoyed about the book: there is humor in every little section, even the most depressing ones; the way the book was set up - divided into three parts, all equally well written, the book keeps a fast pace, which makes it more enjoyable for the reader; and the unexpected twists and turns - Clare really did a great job in planning out the book. I love this series!

The difference between reality and the perception of the Soviet experiment was vividly portrayed.

It was an interesting story. I picked it up for the Historical Fiction, however it had just as much Romance as Historical Fiction. A bit too much Romance for me :)

This was fun, but not captivating for either my daughter or myself. We laughed a bit at the antics of the fairy tale characters in a modern world. But we didn't wholly like the characterizations, either of the protagonists or of the iconic characters. I don't think we have an overwhelming interest in following up with the sequels.
