I thought The Secret Garden was enjoyable to read, and had many interesting and quirky characters, and was a sweet story. There are so many wonderful children's books, I liked this one but it's probably not one of my favorites.

It was cute but some parts seemed boring and longlasting! It was cute though how the character helped another character with dissabilities.

This a great history book. I've been reading and re-reading mine for 23 years. I particularly enjoy the section on the invention of time keeping devices and the subsequent freeing mankind from life dictated by night/day cycles.

I found it a little hard read due to it being told by a five year old at times. The story grew very well as u got more into the book and u found out more about how the characters became confined to one room. A bit disturbing to read the bits about how the 5 year old was still breast feeding. But overall i thought it was a pretty good read.

I love this series, but I can't explain why. I start read and just kind of fall in. I like the characters and probably have a crush on Shamus. The plot is twisty enough that I can't predict what will happen next. This one was particularly fun because I won a copy of the book off the authors blog which just made the experience feel special. And gah... the cliffhangers kill me. Devon Monk has said that this will be a series of 9 books that are pretty much set of three ( a trilogy of trilogies). This is number 7, so there was much tangling of threads.

Five Stars reaffirmed. If I could give it six I would. I first read this book in 2006. I remember sitting on the porch at my parents house in northern Idaho, just before I was to leave for Ecuador. The air was cool in late spring, the creek across the road was babbling away and the far side of the valley was jutting up to provide the view. I remembered sitting on the porch more than the specifics of the book. The first time through I just tried to stay caught up. Steinbeck creates parallel story lines, and at the time I was a little unaccustomed to the technique. There are dozens of quotes from characters that a person could jot in a notebook to remember for later. Steinbeck's characters are so deep, heartfelt, representing the many sides humanity possesses. The story feels like a Biblical epic. It is definitely worth reading if you haven't already. And I look forward to reading it a third, fourth...time.

Bu kitabı gerçekten sevmek istedim (hem Summerland hem de Kavalier ve Clay gibi), ama ne yazık ki öyle değildi. Oldukça eğlenceli ve kesinlikle okumak için ilginç ve eğlenceli bir hikaye olarak tavsiye ederim, ama kesinlikle benim için bir şey eksikti. Her nasılsa Chabon biraz fazla zorlanmaya çalışıyormuş gibi hissetti. . .
