Liked it until the end...

I was getting tired of the Aunt Dimity books, but thought that I would give it one more try. It was a quick, fun read that didn't take too much brain power and made me smile a few times. All in all I'd say it was one of the Aunt Dimity books that I actually enjoyed and wouldn't mind reading more of.

I really enjoyed The Terminal Man, but I wasn't thrilled with the ending. It was abrubt. The story had an interesting plot and I also liked the female character.

My boss gave me this book because I told her I never read Science Fiction, and it was one of the best books I had ever read. Afterwards, I felt that anything was possible. Maybe more importantly, I was excited about the fact.

Karen Chance is one of my absolute favorite new authors. The universe that she has created in her Cassie Palmer and Dorina Basarab companion series is one of the freshest, most imaginative that I have come across in ages, and her character development and dialogue is excellent. I am never bored or groaning about weak plots or predictable dialogue when reading Karen's books. Having said all of that, I LOVE Dory! She has officially become my favorite character and I have not been disappointed at all with the sophomore book in her storyline. My only regret is that I'm going to have to wait for the next book. Thank goodness the new Cassie book release date is just around the corner! (I've got my fingers crossed that Dory and Cassie will meet each other.) Way to go, Karen! Another amazing book in an already fantastic series. Good on you, girl!!

The Mystery of the Blue Train is one of the best Hercule Poirot I've read lately. This excellent mystery has the wonderful dialogue (specifically Poirot's own words) that made Christie world-famous, the characters are interesting and full-bodied, the settings varied and fun, and the plot is excellent with a ending is surprising in a way that only Agatha Christie can be. A wonderful, short, enjoyable, and high-caliber detective novel.

I jumped on the bandwagon for this one and don't regret it for a second. Easy, exciting read you don't have to think too much and some times thats just fine.

This review is indecisive... ish. On the one hand, the short story format was an interesting change. The first few stories did not drag, I suppose, because they weren’t given the chance. There weren’t tons of minute, hair-pulling, superfluous details. Plus, if I did not care for the current tale, I had to only put up with it for a few short pages. However, I found the process of resettling into each new account as unsettling. It was a choppy read. As a rule, I am not great with transitions. I liked the individual charm (some MUCH more than others…) that each new account had to offer. In addition, I appreciated the insight that James Joyce provided into the lives of these native Dubliners. This form of Irish literature was quite new and unique to me. The most unique parts were the tiny, intimate moments of personal clarity that we readers share with each character just before their tale is done. This space of temporary enlightenment and understanding is the most valuable above all of the other babble. Half of the stories are very interesting while the other half are just painful to endure. Plus, these ones that leave something to be desired get harder to tolerate as the book goes on. You see, the tales get longer and longer… If you’re looking to escape this perfect world for a while, do not read Dubliners. It is nearly impossible to get lost in its pages. I would not recommend it to any friend that I wished to maintain.
