This mystery series is set in a coffee house in Manhattan. So, first and foremost, like coffee. Because this books goes into great detail about how to make various coffees, how to store them, and disses a little on tea drinkers and people who drink gas station coffee. The main character is likeable enough, however, I never really cared for her or the mystery. I was disappointed with the match making of her former mother-in-law, though I found her ex-husband likeable in a way. You never know the victim except through others and I never really cared all that much for the victim except to be sorry that she was the victim. I was slightly disappointed in the ending as there were basically two of them as another really disguised mystery was tossed in at the end. I’m told there are folks out there who enjoy the coffeeness of this series and some of the recipes/methods are at the end. I’m not one of them, basically because I don’t drink coffee. Ever. I’d recommend this series if you’re into coffee and underwhelming mysteries, but I won’t be reading any others in this series. I read the Nookbook edition of this book and there were some minor problems near the end with formatting.
