If I could I would give this book 3 1/2 stars. I enjoyed it, it was a quick read, but in the end it felt like it was just a prequel to the next book. This is the third book I've read by this author and I really enjoy her characters. I also liked that we got to catch up with Cathal and Clodagh from the last sevenwaters book.

Christopher Joyce was the U.S. editor of New Scientist and Eric Stover was a freelance writer and a consultant and consultant to Physicians for Human Rights and Human rights Watch. He organized and participated in the first forensic investigations into the fate of Argentina's disappeared. They discuss the history of forensic anthropology and techniques of investigation using Clyde Snow as an example. Snow investigated the evidence beneath the battleground at the Little Bighorn, the bodies of the serial killer John Wayne Gacy, the skeletal remains of Nazi doctor Josef Mengele and the disappeared from the 1970's war in Argentina. This book is exceptional because the authors go into a lot of detail and the book is over 300 pages but it never drags.

After listening to Waldman's interview with Krista Tippett, I looked forward to reading this one. Waldman does a superbly balanced job in describing the beliefs of the major founders of America: Franklin, Washington, Jefferson, Adams and Madison. These men's beliefs, like everyone's, evolved over time. You cannot simply apply convenient labels to them. He concentrates on Madison, who had a major role to play in the shaping of the Bill of Rights, and particularly the 1st Amendment. He concludes by listing fallacies promoted in modern day culture wars. This book will be an important reference in discussions about First Amendment issues.

33 days and the adventure of a lifetime. Truly one of those periods of time where dreams became reality, if only for the blink of an eye. In 1987, Divine Weeks (Bill, Raj, George, Dave, and their road manager Ian) stuffed themselves into a back of a beat up old van and went on their first tour (Don’t Hassle It Tour ’87). No roadies, no soundman, playing dives, sleeping on someone’s floor, eating PB&J sandwiches. Music at its purest. The tour itself is one of those now or never experiences. Either the guys really take a shot at making the band work or they leave it all behind and go their separate ways. Family demons, responsibilities, college, career, and relationships yelling are louder and louder demanding an answer, a direction, a commitment. Still, somewhere deep inside, each of the guys knows they had to do this or they’d regret not taking the chance. In the process, each guy has some unforgettable experiences while gaining some clarity about who they want to be and what’s really important. I think every one of us has that moment where we decide to either live our dreams or just give up. 33 Days touches that part of us. I read this story in one go-stayed up until 3:30 am to do so. I simply couldn’t put it down. It was like I was a tagalong for the ride. My dreams may have been different at 22 years old but for a fleeting moment I remembered.

This is an amazingly moving story, however, it is very long and very Russian. This book took me forever to read.(3 months) But in the end it was worth the struggle. It is a hard read if you like Russian Literature I highly recommend and if you love real drama this is a great read.

Loved this book...David McCullough is a gifted writer. I never realized just how close the Revolutionaries were to being defeated...and on how many occasions.
