Gerçekten her şeyin yanıtını dış dünyada mı arıyoruz? Zihnimizde aynı düşünce dönüp duruyor: Bu adadan kurtarılmayı mı bekleyeceğiz yoksa mutluluk içinde yaşamayı mı öğrenmeye çalışacağız? pedrorago
Pedro Ramirez pedrorago — I love the short story collections. This, however, was one of the more predictable stories I've read of hers.

Naomi Burgess nat215c703 — a highly readable examination of the critical role ireland and the clergy had in maintaining literary traditions and libraries during the dark ages TRUE STORY: my BFF 'netta was reading this in the cafe' of an area barnes and noble when a perfect stranger sauntered up to her and purred, "so, how *did* the irish save civilization?" today they are married with two children. READ THIS BOOK, SINGLETONS. (<-- no idea.)

沈 立姿 a1733049917448 — Just absolutely excellent. In his notes at the end, Hinds writes: After researching the history pretty thoroughly, I opted to break from realism in most of my designs, while preserving just enough historical touches to give Odysseus's world a ring of authenticity. He accomplishes this masterfully, with pictures that find just the right balance of realism, detail, style, and atmosphere. Of course, he has to sacrifice much of the text, but he translates it to pictures in a way that captures the action beautifully, even when the panels run across an entire spread wordlessly. Other times he uses near-direct quotes from the various translations, and finds plenty of space for dialogue and text. He melds the two, pictures and text, into gripping storytelling. I found myself more carried away by the story the further I read, and this may have just become my favorite retelling of Homer's tale.

Ryan Bittle ryanbittle — I've been pretty tough on Dean Koontz lately as I've been rereading a lot of his books. The Face of Fear is long on plot, a little short of characterization (with the notable exception of Harris), and suffers the ill fate of an abrupt climax. The action flows until Koontz gets hung up on climbing details, and then it flows again until the ending which feels, after a suspenseful build, a bit rushed and slapdash, almost as if Koontz was just tired of writing and was trying to get the story wrapped up. Mostly good, but it still feels as if a few changes could have made this a better book.

Mǿhâmêďk Abŏ-êlsȝoȱod _a7 — I hate it when I have to dislike a book that I agree with in principle because of the way those principles are presented. The author is a lawyer, not a journalist, but still the spin is profound. I felt duped midway through to find out she's married to a cattle rancher, and that fact shoots holes in her credibility. While she does make some good points, this isn't a sustainable-food-lit book that I would recommend to anyone just getting into the subject.

craigmoyer
Craig Moyer craigmoyer — The author attempts an homage to Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None" in the construction of this mystery, one in a series starring caterer Faith Fairchild. I have not read any other books by this author, but the setup/homage intrigued me. Faith is invited to cater an event on a private island owned by a famous but reclusive author. The guests, all lured under false pretenses, turn out to be classmates from a women's college where one girl fell from a tower to her death shortly before graduation. Obviously someone wants to find out what really happened. College flashbacks alternate with the present day situation, where of course dead bodies start turning up. The flashbacks are interesting, but ultimately they are abruptly cut off when Faith solves the mystery without much explanation as to how she arrived at the right conclusion. There are lots of unnecessary diversionary descriptions of food, and even some recipies in the back which confirm for me that I prefer my mysteries mysterious, not gourmet. I doubt I would read this author again.

Jon Plante jonplante — Fairly typical teen lit, but some pretty badass pacing and really good storyarcing.
