Kamran Rahat kamranrahat — Christopher, a fifteen year old autistic kid, discovers his neighbor's dog who has been killed with a pitchfork and decides to investigate the murder. The book is written from the viewpoint of Christopher, who is extremely good with 'maths' and has a photographic memory, but can't understand facial expressions, doesn't like to be touched, and won't eat any yellow or brown foods. I liked how the reader is taken into the mind of this kid, someone who's completely disassociated with those around him, but through his own detailed observations, we can pick up on the frustrations and feelings of the adults around him, which incidently is the one thing that Christopher can't do. I'm glad the author took a chance and wrote the story as Christopher because honestly it wouldn't have been nearly as interesting otherwise. And I enjoyed the little touches, like numbering the chapters with prime numbers, the little drawings and mathmatical graphs. But that might just be the math nerd in me talking.

You Me andraz3130440 — Finished the book yesterday but forgot to post my goodreads comment. I thought it was an average book.I would recommend this book for anyone who likes romantic novels. This book was mainly about two girls struggles in 18th century venice, italy, while the war was going on. The two main characters grow up together in an orphanage and both girls marry. But the two families they wed into are mortal enemies. throughout the book the girls make an effort to see each other. then later in the book one of the girls has an affair with a man from florence. the husband had no idea about the affair. then even later in the book, the other husband is framed and put in prison by the other girl's husband. then the two girls band together to rescue him out of prison. i cant say how because that would give away the ending. the culture is different from american culture because italian culture is mainly opera, architecture, and music and pasta as their signature dish. where as american culture is a mix of all cultures from all different backgrounds. i think the reason the author wrote this was to show the hardships of two women in 18th century italy and how they overcame that, even with a war going on. the theme of the text is that anyone can overcome hardships or trials even in the worst of times.

Lucas Perrone lucperrone — Book four in the Charlotte McNally series is another winner. Charlie's now engaged, and must now grapple between personal choices (family time) and her career drive. She and Franklin--and new guy JT---are investigating a car theft racket, but at the same time, she is looking into some threatening phone calls and mysterious death's at Bexter (where her fiancee, Josh, teaches). Lots of secrets to keep and to juggle: can she pull it off again? This is a terrific TV journalist mystery series. Hank Ryan is nominated for an Agatha for this entry: much deserved.

Annika Hirvonen annikahirvonen — Made me want to lock myself in the bathroom, sit in the tub with a second-hand copy and a Merlot and let the kids run loose around the neighborhood. Speaking of second hand, I made sure to buy an early edition of this book so the pages would instantly fall open to the scandalous scenes readers before me satiated over. This was hot-shit in the 50's you know!
