Ytamara Tamaronis ytamara — It was my first Bukowski read. I read it twice within a week, completely drunk on the beach in Mexico last year. I felt like a dirty old man at the time... dumb as that sounds.

James Murray jimmurray332df — I absolutely love Brockmeier's collection of short stories, "Things that Fall from the Sky," and this novel is a good read too. I did find myself disappointed that the book wasn't really about anything more than some vague themes, and the ending feels limp given the slow, moody buildup. Still, even the bland ending is wrapped up in Brockmeier's imagery, and I can forgive a book (just as I can a big budget Hollywood movie) for being shallow as long as it entertains me with pretty pictures.
