Shi Mi benjamin_o4811 — Princess Academy, by Shannon Hale, is an intriguing novel about a girl, named Miri, who lives on a mountain where they quarry stone. Miri doesn’t quarry stone because she thinks she is too small, but could there be other reasons? One day Miri’s village gets word that the prince is to choose his princess from the girls on this mountain. Miri and other girls attend a school where they learn how to be princesses. Along the way, even though she doesn’t quarry stone, Miri helps her village, makes new friends, and discovers new things. I think that the message is that sometimes being different is a good thing. This book was slow at first, but it picked up as it went along. After the first few chapters, I couldn’t stop reading. This book had great descriptions about the characters and the settings. Sometimes things would come too abruptly; such as Miri meeting the prince and then being kidnapped only a few pages later. This book was very well written, and I would recommend it to everyone who is looking for a good read.
