Alex Voll aroundarthd — I usually do not read fantasy or science fiction (I primarily read nonfiction), but Le Guin's books are becoming a welcome addition to my diet. I enjoy the fact that her books are more of a meditation on the essence of being human no matter what "clothing" they wear. This is a beautiful coming of age story for anybody who has ever wondered what are they supposed to be or do in their life. Gav's quest to find his fate is everybody's quest. Plus, the "ancient roman-like" setting makes it doubly delightful to me.

Michelle Spear spearmichelleffc9 — I won this book on Goodreads from Crown Publishing. Thank you so much for sending me this wonderful memoir. Randy Christensen is truly an American Hero and he certainly tells a very important story about homeless children and how they live. You are going to really feel for each and every one of these teenagers. You will shed a tear or two with these stories. But for me, the most touching parts of this book were the ones where Dr. Christensen lets you into his life and tells you about the things he has experienced in his life with his wife, Amy. Dr. Christensen, I salute you and I wish wonderful things for you and your family in the future. Thank you for writing such an important book on such a little know topic.

Romy Romy _omy_j — Zombies!! Feed by Mira Grant follows Georgia a blogger living in a world that has been plagued with a virus that has turned most of the words occupants into zombies. The virus which everyone has been exposed to causes the victim to reanimate upon death or after being fully infected through a bite or bloodeborn contact from a zombie. This has led to a world of terrible isolation and excessive amounts of security. Georgia and her brother Sean are chosen to follow a presidential candidate. Numerous disasters happen and they have to solve the mystery as to who has been sabotaging the campaign. The book starts out with a fantastic action sequence and then transforms into a political drama in a well thought out dystopian world. The story is peppered with articles that are written by the bloggers to help the reader understand what they are thinking. This combination of horror, dystopia and political drama make for a wildly entertaining and engrossing read. Appropriateness: This book seems to be written for a crossover audience of older teens. The characters are in their early 20's and have adult like responsibilities which could be a turn off for younger teens. There is a lot of zombie violence and strong language but nothing else that would disturb parents of younger teens that wanted to read the book.

Taxim Activity taxim — This was my introduction to Orwell in Jr. High School... I loved it then, and read it as an ardent anti-communist during the cold war. Now I love it as a microcosm of any social injustice in a society. Revolutions are only any good while they are happening. Once revolutions are over, it is just a replacement of one power structure by another. Thanks Michel Foucalt for the concept of Power/Knowlege... I am also glad this work was so accessible for a young person, and that my English short stories teacher used it. It allowed me to become interested in his other writings. 'Shooting an Elephant' and 'Burmese Days' are my favorite Orwell works...
