Ronak Jethwa ronakjethwa — I really enjoyed this book and I think it is a beneficial read to anyone who is interested in the therapeutic and spiritual aspects of psychedelic substances or who thinks they may ever have to talk someone through a tough emotional situation as a result of using some of these substances. My one complaint about the book was that the title was a bit misleading, and it seemed as if the whole book would be dedicated to instructing people on how to be safe and how to help others be safe, but there was actually quite a lengthy and wordy section of the book dedicated to current and past research, as well as some other methods of attaining spiritual experiences. I don't mind the inclusion of the research (some of it was about things I didn't already know), but I think that the title of the book might be just a bit inappropriate in terms of reflecting the content. There were a few spots that were very difficult to read through, especially those talking about experiments done on professionals in different fields in terms of productivity (each field had very specific vocabulary and concepts that could not be adequately conveyed to the layman reader). I feel as if this detracted a bit from the average reader being able to conceive of the scope and importance of some of these experiments, although I recognize the difficulty that would come from trying to simplify or explain it in any other way. The section that was dedicated to guiding, health, and safety was very informative, and I would recommend that anyone who feels like they may come in contact with situations like this read this so that they can assist others in need if an emergency or difficult situation arises. The book was a good read, but just short of five stars for some of the less interesting sections and the inaccuracy of the title.
