Marillier is a beautiful writer and after reading only two of her books, I have fallen in love with her work. Making me hungry for more of her books. Wildwood Dancing had amazing characters, a beautiful world, a superb amount of description and enough emotion to tide me over. Not to mention that beautiful love story. Made me believe in true love and love at first sight. The sibling love, the deep loving friendship between Jena and Gogu [who I should mention I loved and adored. Makes me want a pet frog and frogs are cool.] I loved it all. It was a beautiful read and I could not put it down. And this is my review...For now. Just...This book is highly recommended. Read it. Right meow.

Ethan Mccann mccannetb4af — I really enjoy Carrie Vaughn's Kitty Norville series and wanted to like Discord's apple as much as the others. The story had an interesting premise and I really liked certain aspects of the story. Unfortunately, it jumped around too much between the near apocalyptic near future, the mythological past and largely unnecessary vignettes through time of the main character's ancestors. I had a hard time connecting with the main character as a truly sympathetic character, while wanting to know more about some of the more intriguing secondary characters. The jumping around in the story line distracted me just as I was started to feel engaged and caused me to frequently set the book down, which is uncharacteristic of how I usually read her books. Overall, I think that the story would have been better served by allowing more room for the book to breathe and eliminating parts that don't serve to move the story forward.
