I would recommend it to anyone open to trying something new and potentially introspective. Without fail, the runes provide you with insight into your actions and thoughts, piece of mind before falling asleep, and perspective regarding the immense space filled by the little things in your life. Thorsten Hergenhahn hergenhahn — The idea of the plot in this book was intriguing and kind of scary (what would have happened if America had not become involved in WWII), but the execution was not as good as I hoped. The story is fairly interesting, and the characters are well-developed, but it was just missing something. I think the story moved too slowly and there was not enough dynamic change to most of the characters - it felt like plot elements and conflicts began to repeat after a while rather than progressing. It was ok, but not one of my favorites.

Kathrine Hestenes _athrine_oerresen — How this book ended up with a higher average rating than Three Cups of Tea baffles me! The story was sad and disturbing. In the beginning there is a blurb about it being based on fact, but the story itself is fiction. As I was reading it, there were things that reminded me about the Elizabeth Smart story, ie living in the woods, a "house" being hidden, being chained up,.... At the end it did mention her name as well as a couple of other female names. He must have pulled the story together using their stories? There are too many happy stories out there to be read. If I were you, I wouldn't worry about this one.

Bruno Ramos brunomkramos — 06-2-11 Great book! My only complaint about this book is I didnt realize it was the first in a trilogy until after I got it and the second book isnt supposed to come out until 2012, ugh! Hold off until at least the second book comes out before you pick this up because you wont want to wait to read the next one like me. 12/9/14 - now that all three books are out (and I have them) I had to reread the first one to remember what it was all about. I enjoyed it as much as I did the first time :)
