Ricardo Aguilar _ickrdo_guilar — As with many biographies a fascinating insight into a part of history. As a mainly American history it covers science, WWI, WWII, Communism, McCarthyism, the development of the bomb, amongst many others. I did find it a little long and repetitive in sections but I'm glad I stuck with it.

Siobhan Mitchell _iobhan_itchell — William Shakespeare dramatization of the War of the Roses from English history. It makes good material for a Shakespeare work and of course it is Shakespeare probably the greatest ever in the beauty of his use of language. Available as ebook.

Weareyawn Weareyawn weareyawn — Based on a BBC wildlife documentary of the same name, this is a non-fiction with Douglas Adams travelling around the world in search of endangered(rare, critically rare) species. Sigh!I strongly feel that Mr.Adams' premature death has deprived the world of his extraordinary skill of being thought-provoking, stern and goofy all at once. Whoever thought that a book in the field of ecology could be as lively and entertaining? All this without downplaying the damage we've done to these creatures- some unintentional, some not.

Gaia Scaduto gaiascadutocillari — Even though I enjoyed this book (it's a quick read and a neat concept) I don't know that I would highly recommend it, something about it is a little clunky. The basic premise is so neat though- it's about a man who ages backwards- so he is born as an old man and grows young as his mind ages.

Joschina Zeppelin joshinanisha — ** spoiler alert ** I very much enjoyed reading this. We see the world through the eyes of a half American-Indian, a giant of a man called Chief Bromden. Chief doesn't say or do much of anything as the people who run the mental institution where the story is based, think he's deaf and dumb. He plays along with them and pretends because he finds it much easier to get by this way. One day, a loud red-haired man by the name of McMurphy is committed and begins to wreak hilarious havoc on this asylum which is run by a tyrant named Nurse Ratched, or the 'Big Nurse' as Chief calls her. Once I'd gotten the image of Jack Nicholson finally out of my head (he played the character in the film adaptation), McMurphy really came alive for me in the novel. I loved his anti-authority stance, his overbearing confidence and his ability befriend a group of mentally ill patients, when he was actually faking to be there to avoid doing time at the Work Farm. Genuis! He is such an amazing character and was a delight to read about. McMurphy's defiance againt Nurse Ratched turns badly for him at the end but it was his confidence and personality that managed to finally free Chief Bromden, both physically and mentally. Great book, definitely another one that falls into 'the book is so much better than the film' catergory.
