Mark Van markvandreumel — People seem awfully enthusiastic about this book, maybe I should read it?

Idea Systems ideasys — The drug dealer can only sell drugs. The hustler can sell anything The subtitle, The Rise, Fall, and Rise again of JM Benjamin and Randy Kearse, was a perfect summary of the book. I applaud these two authors for putting their story out there in hopes of keeping young children from making the same mistakes they did. I really enjoyed that they included pictures for the readers to get a glimpse into their lives. While their struggles were the same they were different at the same time. Both give credit to those whom were in their corner the entire time - their Mothers. What I found the most interesting was they both came in “the game” with their brother in tow. I think if this book falls in the right hands I truly believe that the holder will be encouraged and hopefully not go down the same road as countless others. Both the authors speak of wanting a change and making their mothers proud. They both on go on to explain their rock bottom and what gave them the strength to change. Their struggle to get out the game is common. They shared a common interest after meeting in prison and that was writing. They both have proved that you can beat the odds and beat the statistics and live successful lives after prison. The biggest draw back for me was the overkill of interviews. I know they are both proud as they should be of their achievements; it made for a redundant read as the interviews just echo each other. In addition, the editing needs some work as there were lots of missing words, etc. I like their own words and love the fact that neither one placed blame on no one but them selves for the time they spent in prison. I love all the outreach these two do in hopes of making a change in someone else’s life. I recommend this book to give to anyone you see going down a path of destruction. James Warwood _arwood — ** spoiler alert ** I had mixed feelings about this book. While I did think it was an interesting concept, and I overall found it a fast-paced and enjoyable read...I had some logistics and character issues. First...Trella seemed to be completely distrusting of everyone...but why? She had no trauma in her past...nothing except some childhood teasing that would cause her to mistrust EVERYONE she encountered except her single friend Cog. Then all of the sudden she begins to trust Riley like it's magic. Sure she has a little debate about it, but more or less it's sudden. So if her mistrust wasn't random and illogical enough...then that gets thrown in. My next qualm was about them opening the door to outer space and...living? How does Cog have enough time to float outside of the door and throw a hammer in to shut the door and re-pressurize before they're both dead! Unlikely! I did a little research just to make sure I wasn't being indignant for no reason and it takes mere seconds...about 30 seconds...for death and severe damage to occur that far out in space. They wouldn't have made it, or if they did...not without adverse effects. Want to learn a little more? Read this: http://www.dailycognition.com/index.p... I am intrigued to know where they are going and where they are from and how they will order the world in the cube now that there is room to expand and the Travas are overthrown...But I'm not sure I'm curious enough to buy the next book. Maybe if it happens to come my way.

Vittoria Pugliese vittoriapuf604 — This wasn't my favorite book ever. It reminded me a lot of the movie I Am Legend...the population has been destroyed by a disease, the kids are trying to find their way north where there is safety, and there are weird, creepy mutants "freaks" around. I think the flap cover made it sound better than it was. But I was intrigued and I read it fast. Wish there had been more romance and I feel like there could have been many more details to help give shape to the story.
