Viviana Moreno viviasol_17353f — I liked both main characters in this book for being different. I also liked the treatment of crime science investigation in a whole different century and combined with a genre where one would never expect to come across it. Jillian is smart and gutsy and Connor is just plain hot and sexy.

Benoit Taillefer designabsolu — I hate when people's expectations of a book are totally out of their league. I mean, everyone knows that this is a romance book for teenagers, so don't go in there expecting the next angels and demons. I personally loved the book and the development of the Jacob character. He was soooo sweet and cute and loving, and I wished Bella would have learned to love him. I think the author developed this character way better than she has done with Edward. It's hard to understand why Bella loves him so much, and not Jacob when it's obvious he is the better choice (I would've picked him). As I said, inmerse yourself into this book with a teenage mentality and heart. Reading this book with Harvard graduate eyes is not going to make it a pleasant read. I do think though that her books are ridiculously long...she could skip some parts that are irrelevant to the plot. Bella's character could have been stronger (she's always crying and whinning as if she's ever made out with edward) lol. Can't wait to buy my niece this book though. I think she'll love it!

Bin gerade verzweifelt auf der Suche nach meiner Ausgabe und hoffe das ich sie doch noch irgendwo unter meinen Schätzen finde. Denn zu kaufen gibt es das Buch scheinbar nicht mehr. :( Schade.

Jared Delamora _ared_elamora — I can't even express how disappointed I am in this book. I LOVED his first book, Ella Minnow Pea. I thought it was so clever and unique. And this, Welcome to Higby, is just terrible. There is nothing interesting about Higby. If you were to go there, you'd drive right through. The descriptions of this book talk about it being hysterical. I haven't even smiled or chuckled once while reading. I'll read something and think, "I think I'm supposed to think this is one of those hysterical things" but that's it, just a thought and then just keep reading and wondering if it will get better. I felt like the scripture that starts every chapter was an intrusion. I don't care about any of the many, many characters. I've been reading thinking maybe it will get better or a point will show itself to all of this stupidity but nothing so I'm not even going to finish. This author had such promise but perhaps he was really just a one-hit wonder. I absolutely recommend Ella Minnow Pea though, that gets 5 stars from me.
