Patrick O portfoliopad — Ok, First off let me say,I have never read Gene Wolf. I also want to say I am not judging him, as an author on this one book.I recognize that he is a highly respected writer and hope that this was just an experimental book where he tried to compose a sci-fi, noir, Lovecraftian tale in which he failed. It started well, I was intrigued, but there was a lack of linear storytelling. I can make intuitive leaps, I am pretty arrogant that way, but his leaps were illogical, and frustrating. His style was interesting as were his characters and I am willing to try another of his books, but what I was excited to read was actually a painful experience.

Brittany Kiker _rittany_k1a3f — A reporter moves in with an Afghani family shortly after the fall of the Taliban, it's a real account of the life of the family, their struggles, frustrations, and hopes. It reads a bit like a PBS documentary, at times a little slow, but always interesting because it's real.

Tharindu Sedara tharindusedara — You know you read an amazing book when after a week you still keep thinking about certain moments or feelings you experienced while reading it. Rothfuss has created both a world and characters that I want to be a part of and meet in person. The depth of the main character is as deep of a character as I've read and I know we've just scratched the surface. The decision on how to unfold the story is fantastic and the writing quality is a pleasure on the mind to read. I can see why both him and Sanderson are sweeping the fantasy world like a storm.

Enrique Plazola omegaman20 — This murder mystery was really quite good. I definitely enjoyed the story. However... and for me, this is a big However... the chess master was WRONG! There was a better and more logical set of moves written into the panel. The chess master should have recognized this. As a result, the book lost me a bit so I've given it 3 stars instead of 4.

Anouar Elharti _nouar_lharti — I love the Harry Potter series, so what can I say? I am behind & have one more to go to complete them. I wanted to finish this one before the movie comes out in July. Fun book!

Vu Thai vuqthai — "Super-Dren The De-Victimizer: The Super-Fun Way to Stop Being Bullied" is a comic book solution to bullying featuring the one and only kid super-hero nerd Super-Dren. Super-Dren takes his bullying victims to Weetopia and makes crazy but useful suggestions to defuse bullying talk such as "Use Humor! Say the unexpected! Get them off guard and maybe they will even start to laugh at themselves!" By playing out different scenarios where the victim returns the teasers' verbal abuse with unusual responses, a whole new interaction pattern possibility evolves. This is the idea at the heart of "Super-Dren the De-victimizer." Another key concept is, "Treating your enemies like friends gives you so much power. It turns them into your friends (p. 14)." And the Welcome to Weetopia sign reads the secret weapon of Super-Dren: "Treat others as you would like to be treated." At the end of "Super-Dren the De-Victimizer" is a list of 8 rules that can help turn bullies into buddies, with accompanying cartoons and examples. "Super-Dren the De-Victimizer" is a great kid-friendly guide and tool to defuse bullying behaviors. It is especially appealing to middle school students aged 7-12.

Ahmad Wanli ahmad_wanli — Loved this book, set in Southern California. I read it because I saw the 2007 movie "There Will Be Blood", which turns out to have been heavily adapted for the screen. I liked the book better. It is very critical of big business and of fundamentalist religion (specifically the Foursquare Church of the 1920's. There's a fake preacher who goes through a scandal very reminiscent of Aimee Semple MacPherson.) This book is hard to find unfortunately. It's a gem.
