Melanie Griffiths melaniegriffiths — Ok, where to begin... I am giving this book three stars because I think it is a worthwhile read. Having said that, I found this book to ramble on unnecessarily about side events that really did not push the story forward nor flesh out the characters any further. Some of the slang and colloquial speech, I do not feel was actually authentic, based on my own experiences at least, and was almost a little condescending on the part of the author. I am aware that such situations exist, however the recurring theme of incest, though unintentional perhaps, still seemed a litttle over the top to me, particularly considering that apparently lightning struck twice. The main character, Adie, seemed to have encountered horrific misfortune, and didn't seem to really be affected by anything that happened, no matter how traumatic, and the solutions to her problems seemed to fall like manna from Heaven. I still feel like there was a worthwhile journey to be had in reading this novel, just would have appreciated fewer rest stops and a slightly different route.

James Marshall _arshall5ec4 — This book was totally pointless and superficial. All it was about was being pretty, nothing more. It also moved so slowly, I think that by the time it took me to get to a point where something actually happened, the season had changed, and I'm a very fast reader. The most exciting parts of the book are so boring that I almost fell asleep at the climax of the book. If you choose to read this book, bring a pillow with you and another book to read once you get bored with this one.
