Rodrigo Mazza rodrigomazza — When this book came out, I went straight out and bought both it and the first half of the pair, "In the Night Garden," because I'd read the first one and loved it so much that I wanted to have them both for always. Valente's prose is gorgeous - rich, velvety, three-dimensonal, and painfully honest. And the stories-within-stories-within-stories connect beautifully with each other, and with stories and characters from the first book. The characters feel like real people, and she makes you care about even the most villainous. And finally, finally, finally, a happy ending that also makes sense within the context of the novel.

rattodesign
Jeff Ratto rattodesign — When I was younger, my parents thought the biggest threat of punishment they could make was "I'll send you off to boarding school!" Thanks to the Malory Towers (and St. Clare's) series, this threat had absolutely no weight. I thought boarding school sounded "smashing" what with all the midnight feasts, lacrosse matches and dancing in the common room to the wireless. Malory Towers was the first school series I read and I enjoyed it. I felt like all the characters were fully developed and had motivations for why they were the way they were, as opposed to St. Clare's, which sometimes felt a little cartoonish in comparison. I mean, somehow you like Gwendoline Mary Lacey despite her everlasting prattling and airs, especially during the last book of the series. She is a well-done antagonist. Fun fact: Did you know that the protaganists name--Darrell Rivers--was a play on Blyton's own husband's name, Kenneth Fraser Darrell Waters? One last thing for EB fans: http://community.livejournal.com/enid...

Babak Madandar babakmadandar — Nolan is working on a new job, set up by Planner, and is encouraged to take the old man's nephew, Jon, on as a partner> At twenty, he's a budding comic artist that has been supplementing his meager earnings by knocking over gas stations with a couple of partners. Not overly enthused, three amateurs?, he takes them on and begins planning the bank heist. As usual, things go awry as jealousy sets in with one woman and three men involved. Also, Nolan has been spotted by an old enemy, one of the "Family," that's had a contract on him for fifteen years and his death is in the works. A patching up goes awry and Nolan is nearly killed. Things are never easy for the old man who wants to retire, he's fifty, from the life of crime and simply run a club.

Harry Cb certaingraphics — Not a tough read but a fun read, this book (penned by Al Gore's daughter) is a "close to home" fictional picture of life working on the Hill.

1058613236a44e — I think this is the best Stephan King book I've read. Fantasy, but GREAT and not boring, like I find most fantasy.
