I agree "I think we would all be better off if there were more porches, and if we used them. Porches just bring people together." I want to be a "world-class porch sitter"!

Lido S prpapashaaf78 — This short book mostly concerns Charles Dodgson's (Lewis Carroll) fascination with photography using the famous photo of Alice Liddell pictured on the cover as a starting point. As always with Winchester's books, the language is lyrical and at the same time erudite. The book is as much about the emergence of photography as an art form as anything else. Again, its 100 pages is chock-full of information on the controversy about Dodgson's relationship with Alice, Ina, the Liddell parents, the break in friendship, etc. I always learn a great deal of incidental background and trivia that sustains my interest (e.g., Alice's abnormally big feet). I always feel I am mentally stimulated when I read Winchester. It ends with a small chapter about the elderly Alice's trip to New York. All that said, the subject was a little less interesting than it might have been. I vacillated between two and three stars.

Danitza Mesinas dmesinasa3fd — The ideas are top notch, more than making up for some rough corners in the writing. Interesting tidbits and examples about what makes a business great Anything by Pabrai -- and especially more recent -- is super-worthwhile. Eg annual meeting transcripts.

Ana Patricia pattiramos — Secret Garden Secret Window is one of my favorite stories. (and so is the movie)

Muhammad Saeed saeedparvi — Convoluted. All over the place jumping back and forth faster than The Flash. I did like the full page artwork of the superheroes, the ones that were in between all the issues. That's pretty much all I liked, this was a disappointment.

Balasubramaniam P _ala_ — I am biased because I devour everything by Arturo Perez-Reverte, but it is the best thus far in the Captain Alatriste series.

Andre Lawson _eptic — I read this out loud to my sons and all three of us loved it. Story of a boy who lives on a ranch in Idaho with his grandparents. His mom is an artist in Europe and left when he was small. His father is being sent to Iraq to command troops in the war. His older brothers are away at school, so he, Grandpa and Grandma are left to keep up with the animals and jobs on the ranch. He is determined to prove that he can fill in for his father's absence and struggles with being the little brother when he talks to or sees his older brothers. When tragedy strikes, he must step up and prove what kind of person he truly is. A book anyone will love, but one that will especially appeal to boys!
