Healy Slakman healyshir — This is the first book in the series. I read it with my 13 year old son. He LOVED it and I can see why. Alex Rider, the main character, is a brave, unassuming 14 year old boy who does some pretty fantastic things. It's not fantasy in a literary sense, but it IS fantasy. Not all that believable, but a great read for a young boy ...sometimes a hard type of book to find. I've read many books in the series, so I have to say I find them compelling as well.

Alexandra Faia alexandraf0566 — This book is amazing in its depth and clear presentation. Taking a panentheistic (i.e., God is simultaneously immanent in all of It's emanations and yet transcendent of all phenomena)and mystical approach, the title of the book may be rather misleading. Sure, it's about the Ultimate Reality that presented Itself as "I AM that I AM" but the bulk of the content centers on the psychology of consciousness. It speaks on perceptual distortion, self-deception, the global thought form (i.e. enculturation), higher states of awareness, and so on. This book assisted with that little insight (Accept everything unconditionally including the ego because it is all you) that initiated me into mystical revelations. Satori, enlightenment, Samadhi, the beatific vision, and the rest of the labels of a certain experience that changed my life through a transcendence of consciousness.

I Tagi i_agi — As much as I love to listen to Garrison's stories on his show, I could not make my way past the first 15 pages. I violated my own "read at least 50 pages" rule. Maybe if I listened to it on tape--in SMALL doses? Or maybe I have too many great books waiting in line to be read and enjoyed to be patient with a mediocre book.
