Nitekim Kuşçubaşı Eşref Bey biyografisinde kendisinden başka Mustafa Kemal, Enver, Cemal ve Hurşid paşaların, Süleyman Askerî ve Yakup Cemil’in, Çerkes Ethem’in, Ahmed’in, Reşid’in, Selim Sami’nin hikâyelerinin bazı cepheleri de saklıdır.”
Jesse Brioux jessebrioux — Great sci-fi book about a lunar revolution, with deliberate parallels to the American revolution. Those whose only experience to Heinlein has been Starship Troopers will be surprised to see this book on the completely opposite end of the political spectrum, as this is about a Libertarian revolution...this book first made popular the phrase "There Ain't No Such Thing as a Free Lunch! (TANSTAAFL) Also, this book has one of the coolest AI characters I've ever seen.

L Emon 49423467871ff — Okay. So I hated this book in junior high. Really. I really, really, really hated it. I did not understand why this book existed, found it droll and boring, found it not even worth the paper it was printed on hardly. Here is why - 1. nature was boring. I lived in the city. 2. These people were boring. Why did they do this to one another? 3. Why did these people exist and who cares. And then came in universality, an idea of what theme meant and that it could apply to me, that I enjoyed reading texts like this and not Stephen King anymore (Yes. I mentioned Stephen King in a review of an Edith Wharton book. So what?), and that I then went to college and spent tens of thousands of dollars to learn how to become an effective and engaging writer and well-read person. So, I have read it. I have had my heart broken and have broken hearts. I understand beauty and art and execution now. And I still think this book does not necessarily belong in a 7th grader's hands. That said, I enjoyed this book a lot. There is not really a tremendous amount to say about it. I think it is simple, the symbolism is really surface and mundane, and I also think that the ultimate rising action is nothing to really write home about since it is slow and really depends on a lot of minute actions by the protagonist (which, even though romantic, I could definitely construe as creepy most of the time - I wonder if it had been written by the wife?). What I did enjoy was the tragedy of it all and the fact that my understanding of how it happened and worked out in the end os completely different now that I am older, married, and the same age or so as Ethan was in the book. I also think that the descriptions of New England and Massachusetts in winter were absolutely amazing and I think that that is really where the beauty of this book lies. I would recommend this book to any married man, yes, and I would also recommend all New Englanders read it. But I do not think that your average 7th-9th graders really could care about it. As I didn't years ago. My teacher and school ruined it for me.

taoyijia
陶 一嘉 taoyijia — This is the story of the Moffatt family of New Hampshire. Wes Moffatt is a local cable television celebrity who claims to be an authority on his small town's history, including the Talbert Treaty signed many years earlier by the Native American inhabitants of the land and the white settlers. His wife, who everyone, even her children, call Sister, is a former nun who maintains her highly religious sentiments and has visions of the future His son, Daniel "Boone" Moffatt, is the town's police chief, whereas his daughter, Veronica, is a nurse who drinks too much and takes too many happy pills. Then there's Reggie, who was kicked out by his wife and lives in Cinderella's Castle in Disney World. Much of the story is narrated by Daniel, who is visited on a semi-regular basis by Satan, but who also forgets the Latin spell his mother taught him to get rid of old Sticks (as he is called in the book). The main plot line involves a group of presumed Native Americans, led by a woman called Sarah Running Doe, who attempt to claim the land and the trouble this causes for Wes, who claimed that he has seen the treaty that granted the land to the white settlers. He, of course, can't produce it because it's one of the many tall tales that has been his stock-in-trade for so many years. Other plots include Daniel and Veronica's attempts to cajole Reggie to return to New Hampshire for their parent's 50th anniversary; Daniel's several run-ins with Satan (including a harrowing scene on a plane and in a forest clearing); Veronica's strained relationship with her two daughters; and a serial killer who terrorized (and terrorizes) New England. But it is also a tale of redemption on several levels. The story has much to offer: comedy, touching moments, horror. Its main strength is the endearing characters in the Moffatt family. It's mostly an enjoyable read with a too quick (and conveniently neat) ending for my taste.
