Ashby Nau ashbynau — I enjoy read Crichton's novels for his creative use of the science fiction and thriller genre, dinosaurs roaming the modern day world, modern day archaeologists travels back in time to 14th century France...but this book at 415 pages long was perhaps his worst. Normally, his books, to me at least, were page turners but this book had so many characters and plots that I lost interest in the lives of these folks. I understood what he was getting at with his take on the patenting of genes and the business of gene therapy and what not that had he focused on the two families, the Burnets and the Kendalls the book could have been a solid, enjoyable thriller to read.

Justin Hill _raphics — This is the story of an amazing woman who was the courage to stand and speak up for herself and her girls. Reading this I couldn't believe that people are able to do this to other human beings. The incredible sadness of this makes me think about human trafficking and what I can do in my life to help prevent it. Because it's worldwide. The girls that are working in the red light district in Amsterdam, are not from Cambodia, but from Eastern Europe and have no voice at all. Their voice must be heard. Somaly Mam's courage moves my heart.
