Mohnad Ahmad mohnad — I have this marked as "read" but I don't remember finishing it. It's completely possible that I did, though. I picked it up in an airport around when it came out. I remember beginning the novel impressed at the author's ability to produce an almost perfect first-person voice for the viewpoint character. It is written in first-person, right? I can probably regurgitate some facts about goings-on being slowly revealed throughout the plot, and things getting increasingly depressing. But I never remember any moral or ethical questions I had about the subject ever intensifying or gaining context or becoming more interesting. As the story went on it just got sadder, but also duller, and it didn't ask any new questions, and by the end of the book I was completely bored. If I finished, at least. I can't even remember.

Wendel Felius wendelfelie23f — I'll say it again, I love Marcus Buckingham. He writes succinctly and intelligently about career success, about how to get the best work out of yourself and others, and how to build on the strengths you have and be a performer - exactly as the title would suggest.

Sepideh Kazemi spdk — Interesting attempt at a post-Mieville fantasy world, of humans+. The central characters are essentially comic book superheroes with special powers - a fantasy I found banal even as a teenager, so that I find a problem. But it's well written & well plotted, with a curious universe.

Xinxian Wang xximokudbe7 — This book is the 2nd in a new series by Patricia Briggs. There are your typical werewolves and vampires, but the led character, Mercy, is a skinwalker, which is a shapeshifter that can shift into a coyote and is mostly immune to vampiric powers. THe plot is strong and the villians are bad enough to really show off the hero's strenghs. I really like this series so and can't wait for the next book to come out. I rate this candy for the brain.
